1. Warner
2. Renshaw
3. Khawaja
4. Smith
5. Handscomb
6. Patterson
7. Wade
8. Starc
9. O'Keefe
10. Hazlewood
11. Sayers

Genuine lack of options for the opening position, Shaun Marsh would be in if fit. Ferguson is not test match quality as much as I hate to say it, then again that hasn't stopped the likes of Nevill getting plenty of opportunities.

Gotta pick Handscomb, touted as the best player of spin so may as well try him in the dead rubber before sending him to the wolves in India.

Dean and Renshaw are incredibly reactionary calls; they are not ready, recent big scores notwithstanding. One way to solve the opener problem is to have Khawaja open for one Test, Ferguson at three and bring someone into the middle order. Handscomb obviously one of those.

Callum 'catching practice' Ferguson?

No way he bats at 3...

We really need 2 of these threads.

One for the even remotely plausible and realistic changes.
And another for the ridiculous Big Footy fantasies where half the team gets changed with about 4 blokes debuting.

Of course the first would probably have barely any posts...

Burns is out if S.Marsh is fit... Serious lack of options. Handscomb has played well lately, should replace Voges. If we're being completely honest Mennie probably won't get dropped, but Sayers has been unplayable lately.

I've not seen Renshaw bat, but based on the chatter from a few articles and tonning up today I reckon he's going to get picked as a bolter. Peter Handcomb would have to be a shoe-in now you'd think.

Kurtis Patterson would be the next in line. He may even get the nod over Ferguson but I'd be surprised if they pick 3 young guys to debut.

Travis Dean's name would be there abouts but he hasn't got the hype of Renshaw.

I think Bancroft - whom I had as an in for this test - has missed a big opportunity and will have to wait a while longer. He's going to need some runs very soon otherwise he'll find himself a test 6th in the openers pecking order behind.

A 20-year old bolter with a good early start to his career, a 25-year old who's scored plenty of runs at FC level, and a 31-year old in his second test would be seen as a good mix of new faces I reckon.

Yeah it's a tough one boys, I think priority number one is to avoid the whitewash, so I'd be content with stop-gap changes and having players who can at least draw the Test, then resetting for Pakistan and reconfiguring the team. What that Adelaide team would comprise of though I have no clue, which is probably why Rodney junked the post-it notes and felt it was a question he'd rather not answer this time.

No way u do we open Khawaja, he's firing at number 3, we leave him there. Deans ready to go.

So do we go with the hype, or the realistic choice? Deans made a 100 in a shield final, that's real runs.

Dean scored double tons on debut yet still only averages 35; picking him would be crazy, as would picking Harris, another name that's been mentioned. Khawaja can and has opened, so for the sake of one Test, I'd be fine with it.

It's a shame about Bancroft; it feels like he's choked as the possibility of selection became more realistic.

I think the selectors will go with Renshaw to be honest. Not sure what will happen with Neville but I think with a few changes already that might save him. This is my prediction at the moment.

Renshaw averages 50 so I can't see how it's so clear cut for you.

Aside from not being Victorian why is Renshaw not a realistic choice ?

Surely people aren't "convinced" that he's a Test batsman from such a little sample size of innings, though? He's barely played more than a season's worth of Shield cricket.

Or it could be that he's just not yet as good as some people thought or hoped.

He's a good example why you shouldn't select someone for the Test side based on such a small sample size of good form.

How is he the best man for the job. Other than today's knock he hasn't been going gangbusters this season

Renshaw hasn't played this season yet...How would his average be if he was apart of QLDs capitulation against Victoria last game?

44 actually v 41

Personally don't think either is ready yet, but there really isn't anything between them other than age and hype...
