Thing is, if he performs and Ferguson doesn't, then it doesn't have to be a one-off. SMarsh could slip back into his preferred position at 5 and Renshaw could stay.

Unsure if 5 is his preferred position atm, but what you said has meritThing is, if he performs and Ferguson doesn't, then it doesn't have to be a one-off. SMarsh could slip back into his preferred position at 5 and Renshaw could stay.

Sorry. When did Marsh start batting well?A big no to Dean for me, before this match he couldn't buy a run.
My team: Warner, Renshaw, Khawaja, Smith, Handscome, M.Marsh/Head, Nevill, Mennie, Starc, Hazlewood, Lyon/Zampa
Reasons:
Warner for obvious reasons
Renshaw is a gun in the Alistair Cook mould
Khawaja looks like our best number 3 since Ponting
Smith: Same as Warner
Handscome: Banging the door down, deserves chace
M.Marsh: Looked like he was starting to bat well just when he got dropped, keep going imo.
Head: Bit of a potential pick, but he looks to be a test player in the future. Has had a few good FC seasons.
Nevill: Best wicketkeeper in the country, can't afford to have Wade continually drop catches. Whiteman will replace him in the future.
Mennie: Only 1 test, didn't disgrace himself, l reckon they will give him another shot.
Starc and Hazlewood: obvious reasons.
Lyon: fast losing patience with him but he is our most experienced spinner.
Zampa: Not sure, looks better in ODI when players have to attack him. Don't know who else to pick.

Sri Lanka.Sorry. When did Marsh start batting well?
Given it is a day-night Test Behr would be an inspired selection. Very good bowler with the pink ball.Behrendorf finished with 5 though. I said yesterday he might be a bolter - 5-for doesn't hurt.
They should, I question any cricket pundit who thinks Mennie is Test-worthy.Dorff would be a good pick, I think he's Test quality. But he may have to wait for the Pakistan series, not sure they will jettison Mennie so quickly and an extra game to prove his fitness wouldn't hurt.
People forget how good Bird was in NZ too, he was ridiculously unlucky not to get a game in the first test let alone the second. If either Bird or Sayers are so great at swinging the pink ball, why wouldn't you give them 2 Tests (Adelaide and Brisbane) and see what happens?
Renshaw, no. Patterson no. Behrendorff, no.Let's just go nuts with it...
David Warner
Matt Renshaw
Usman Khawaja
Steve Smith (c)
Peter Handscomb
Kurtis Patterson
Matthew Wade (+)
Steve O'Keefe
Mitchell Starc
Josh Hazlewood
Jason Behrendorff
The sad thing is, even with a 20-year old opener, a recalled back-stop and 4 debutants I would back that team to do better than the incumbents.
No to Renshaw I would understand.Renshaw, no. Patterson no. Behrendorff, no.
Would have thought all those guys would be very close. What would your side be?R

Sorry, haven't seen every post in this threadAlready posted.
Fair enough.Sorry, haven't seen every post in this thread
Examples?I think the whinging is definately coming from the other side and your refusal to play Victorians in form, owell, need to oil that chip on the shoulders!
Tried to find it in your posts but all I can find are posts about Travos Dean. I can't understand why you say a definite no to Renshaw but you think Dean is a must. Renshaw actually has a better record than Dean. I'm a Victorian too by the way and think Dean is a real talent but you act as though Renshaw shouldn't be talked about in the same breathe as Dean when he's actually ahead of him as a 20 year old.Fair enough.
