Was it the chirping that got Trott, or the 150km/h thundrbolt that was aiming for his head...Like Jonathon Trott?

I think the chirping actually does the opposite effect imo. Plenty of batsmen who have made big hundreds against us have said that the chirping that we do has actually spirred them on.
Vics>>>Sandgropers. What? Stop being so reasonable! You're a disgrace to the thread!

Worth a try but as you say, it can have the negative effect. People like Kohli and probably Root, it is just going to make our job so much more difficult.Depends on the batsman doesn't it, sometimes the chirp works and sometimes the batsman is mentally strong enough to use it to his advantage. Worth a try though.

Bloody Kohli, every time he comes to Aussie shores he gets 100's all over the place, goes over to England and is terrible.
Zampa is a long way from test standard. Too fast through the air and bowls too much loose stuff. He might have matured a bit but he was a real prick of a kid to deal with when he hit the Sydney grade scene about 7 years ago. That will never help your cause.Probably been asked but what about Zampa; if Smith wont bowl himself throw the kid in and let him bowl.
When is last time off spin won us a test; Ponting; Clarke and now Smith all too scared to bowl a leggie .Smith used to get a bowl at 1/230 so he should know better,we are not finishing sides off .Everyone still struggles with a bit of good old fashion legspin
I don't recall seeing Sayers on the speed gun, but I don't think he'll crack 130 too often.I don't understand our selectors fascination with speed. McGrath wasn't fast.
But Sayers has been one of the leading SS bowlers for several years now. He obviously doesn't need the pace to get rid of players.
Players will always struggle with a bowler who can bowl 130's and put it in the right areas and swing it a little than someone who can bowl 145's
Its a good point you make. This is a very intriguing dead rubber when you also factor in first test under lightsWell between Faf's lollies and Australian selectors' lols, there's at least been PLENTY of interest generated for what is a dead rubber.
Geese is he even less than 130... Thats really slow.... but he is still taking a lot of wickets, so does speed matter if he is taking a lot of wickets on our pitches?I don't recall seeing Sayers on the speed gun, but I don't think he'll crack 130 too often.
I could be underestimating him a little bit, but we'll see if he gets his chance. I'm not expecting to see much get above 130. I don't recall seeing him in domestic one day games with a speed gun so if others have they can give me context. If he gets wickets then he'll keep getting picked, but he'll need to shine quickly. He's not the sort of bowler they'll stick with if he doesn't perform straight away.Geese is he even less than 130... We call that the Mennie Method of selection.I could be underestimating him a little bit, but we'll see if he gets his chance. I'm not expecting to see much get above 130. He's not the first and won't be the last bowler to be discarded after one test. It was a selection error picking him in the first place. Don't need to compound that mistake by picking him multiple times. We call that the Mennie Method of selection.
A query to my Australian supporting counterparts - do any of you guys still think starc has a bit to prove?
He was colossal in Sri Lanka, absolutely no doubt about it.
But save for a good burst at the start in Perth and 2 overs in Hobart he hasn't looked likely at home.
Obviously he's got all the tools, but is there a scenario in which you could see him being under any pressure in the next, say, 12 months?

This is amazing. You guys have already written off and dropped The Chadd Man. And after no tests. Now that's a record. He's not the first and won't be the last bowler to be discarded after one test. The difference between a batsmen failing and a bowler failing is you still get to see the bowler failing ovazer and over and over again in that test (or those tests if they got multiple). It sticks in the selectors mind a lot more.
He had a serious knee injury, 30 stiches required, a month before the test series started remember. He bowled against an incredibly inexperienced batting line-up in Sri Lanka. He's not bowling against that sort of team now of course. You can't expect him to have that sort of series again in a hurry.

No, but if he's going to be a regular in the Australian team he should start taking regular wickets without going for a billion runs.He bowled against an incredibly inexperienced batting line-up in Sri Lanka. But he's not playing, because Smith already named his 11, and Bird's playing, not Chad. Thought everyone knew that!McGrath had height and bounce, which made him more penetrating that a lot other bowlers his speed.
Sayers is about 15cm shorter than McGrath.
In Test matches, he'll be up against much better batsmen. Nathan Bracken, Clint McKay, Jon Hastings, Trent Copeland... just to name a few off the top of my head, all had good domestic records and were all too slow to have any impact in Test matches.
I hope so. I have no issue with Sayers being given a game... I think you have to reward form. But I won't be surprised if the Saffers absolutely murder him.
I've told you a million times not to exaggerate. No, but if he's going to be a regular in the Australian team he should start taking regular wickets without going for a billion runs.
What you talking about footyman? I was writing about Mennie. Learn to comprehension brah. This is amazing. You guys have already written off and dropped The Chadd Man. And after no tests. Now that's a record.
