If argue that Brown did work on the weekend. Apart from one free kick in front of goals Goldstein had no influence on the match. Mackenzie's role is not the same as Guv's role anyway. More of a one on one defender whereas Guv tries to stay free a bit to come in and repel at every opportunity.

Brown took a fair chunk of the ruck work early in what I believe was a deliberate ploy to wear down Goldstein and keep Lycett fresh so he could take advantage somewhat later in the game

Partly due to Goldstein not being fully fit I think the strategy worked ok

Happy with brown as the backup to Lycett whilst Naitanui is out

I almost want him to leave. He's not going to get a go in our forward line anytime in the next 2-3 years.
It's a waste of a good young talent.

If he could build a tank he might play on the wing and there's always a chance he could go ape shit and get a game but I can't see it happening.

At those ages, you just need one injury and it comes quickly. I'd expect him to pick up some games next year if he builds on WAFL form.

For this, I want Jetta in at the wider MCG and told to run with it at every opportunity. The whole point in getting him was that we would have him on one wing and Gaff wide on the other. We seem to persist in going to Gaff's wing (who has lost kicking accuracy this year) and hardly ever seem to go out on the right. That's my hunch though I'm sure there's some data around to back it up / disprove it?

I feel Jetta is getting burned because our players simply are used to going left to where Gaff is - it's a habit - rather than because they don't trust him with the ball.

If McKenzie is to come in at the moment it should be either for Brown, and playing the backup ruck role, or for Barrass/Schofield. I'm pretty happy with the combination as it is right now.

I prefer emac to schofield. He's one year older but strengthens the defence. Schoey has been great in the last few years but he has offered us minimal run in the last 18 months as his mainly played a locked down role. Going forward i think emac is a better option. He was not only one of the best lock down players in 2014 but he also provided us a bit more run from defence. He was also top 5 for intercept marks that season. This is a big plus for me as schofield biggest weakness is his aerial game. Schoey isnt that great over head for his size. Once emac puts on a bit more bulk and regains confidence in him self then he will be a better option. Having 3 kpd that are able to win the ball in air the or neutralize a contest is massive. It also means that we can get a bit more drive out of defence from gov or even chuck him forward. Only way i see schofield remaining is if they use barrass as number one defender.

I think by the end of the year we will see Emac back into the squad ahead of Barrass. We are pumping games into Barrass and he is looking good so he will good depth for the year and if any of Gov or Schoey go down. Emac is finding his feet in the WAFL and doing a great job but really should have been doing it from the start of the season. At his best he is one the best FB's in the league and will be very handy come finals when we up against the big key forwards.

Emac is a champion, proven AA winning late 20's player coming back from a knee reco.

You're right about gaff's kicking. Its been down this year but last 3 weeks have been a bit better. However, i disagree about us being gaff centric. Masten seems to flourish on the other wing. I just don't think jetta's work rate is as good as theirs. I loved jetta as hff in 2012. All he needs to do is get 14-15 touches, a handful of quality inside 50s and a couple of goals eqch week on a forward flank.
