If Brown was playing down back I would 100% agree with you. But he is playing second ruck. Why move Gov from the position where he is dominating and so valuable for us? I don't think Emac could come in and play Gov's role anywhere near his level at this stage. Brown is playing ruck purely as a chop-out for Lycett. He did a serviceable job on the weekend, as good as could be expected... all he has to do is create a contest, not win. As soon as Nic Nat is back Brown will likely be out. Our defense looked the best it had all year on the weekend so change just for the sake of it sounds dangerous to me.
Nail on the head.

We could trial Gov in that role and leave Brown in the side playing down back, in case it doesn't work out or there's an injury. We did that a bit in the final quarter v Essendon.

I think EMac is competing with Schoey and Barrass for two spots.
Very doubtful they'll drop Schoey(he's been getting pretty aggressive this year as well, lov'n that) or Barrass, they're both playing well.

Could you not?
Are you saying if we could conceivably kick loose a coniglio or jom that you wouldnt trade emac?

We seem to be able to produce kpb out of thin air but mids are impossible. To get something you have to give something.

he smashed the endurance tests at the Combine (hence we drafted him)
So he's just lazy as **** then? I seriously wanted to see him in the team given his much touted abilities, but Simmo has barely even mentioned him in interviews/pressers this year.

It's surprising really because even if he is facing east, he should know that the clubs in the east also have standards and won't be looking at him if he doesn't jump up and force them to take notice.

We have been lucky, but there is no way that any of our current KPD's are the equal of EMac against the true power forwards. Gov is a great interceptor, not great one on one. Barrass is a kid. Schofield is out of form and not great one on one either.

Would love an extra good mid but not for Emac, I can't see that being a straight swap our way either

McGovern about a week ago had the best 1 on 1 stats in the league.

Emac is a champion, proven AA winning late 20's player coming back from a knee reco.

It's mind blowing that anyone is even dreaming of trading him. Jesus

On the principle he may not play

If a good player isn't playing then it's plausible to think trade

The days of sentiment are gone ...I'm not saying we should trade him ......I'm saying it shouldn't be off the table for discussion

His opponent were always mod size or the oppositions second tall.
Given the size of some of BF's mods, there wouldn't have been too much separating fatty McGovern and his opponents

He is a champion. But an expendable one, and if we want to snare a midfielder to take us to the next level (which is what we are lacking IMO), we need to give something good up.

He's just developing. He's still 19 and is stuck in between roles - KPP? Third tall? Big bodied wingman?
It's not that surprising that he has been pretty inconsistent.

Is anyone else thinking that Casboult out might be good for Carlton. not sledging Levi as such but when the obvious forward target is gone their mids might think more when attacking and some of their other forwards might work harder/have more impact?

I'm looking forward to seeing this one at any rate as i haven't seen much of P. Cripps all year. I really think he should have to come to us at the end of this year under some kind of "Northampton" clause.

I got fatty mcgovern fingers, so i have heaps of typos

The days of the true power forwards is over. Guys like Cloke and Hawkins copping criticism for being too immobile etc.
