Out: Otten (looks like an old man with some sort of prostate issue), Tippett (get the set shot kicking right), Reilly ( about as much hardness as melted butter)

In: Lyons, Shaw, Wright

I Think it's safe to say that Andy Otten is the new whipping boy. All he need to do us turn up he will be nominated as an out the week after.

If you want to blame anyone, blame the lazy midfielders who couldn't or didnt apply the pressure to their midfield to try and limit how often the ball comes in. This would help any defender.

I don't think Andy Otten was that bad and certainly doesn't deserve as much critisum as he is receiving.

Did we lose today because of Andy Ooten? No we become a bettet side because if his replacement? No we will not. Will we win next week because of his replacement? No.

Andy Otten is not the problem.

Only change I can see is, knights in for Kerridge or we will stay unchanged from today if everyone pulls up fine.

No, I have a better idea. Let's drop Thompson, he's no good and needs to learn how to handpass in an S curve between 5 guys, and let's drop Rutten too, his man scored a packet, he's horrible at defending.

I honestly wonder if some of you all have the same dealer, or if it's just coincidence.

Andy Otten is not the problem.

Our midfield won the contested possessions and the clearances. It wasn't necessarily laziness that did us in, it was a shocking balance between inside/outside players at the stoppages.

OK...Vince was lazy.

He is paid to kick goals not miss them from 20 metres consistently.

Would you like my dealers number ?

Thompson and Sauce can hold their heads high.

Let's gloss over the part where our best and best performing key forward kicked 3.3, while our other key forward had 4 touches and 0.2 in four quarters of pathetic football, and you've dropped our relieving ruckman and replaced him with a small forward.

If it helps you sleep better, I'm all for it.

Realistic changes would be Otten and Petrenko out, with Henderson and Knights in. Martin, Kerridge and Lynch to raffle the green vest.
How many times do we have to say it but Petrenko's best position is in defence, he would be another stiffy Johncock back there with his evasiveness and bullocky play. We cant expect to make all defenders into forwards eventhough they may have some of the traits to play fwd. Running at the ball is alot easier than when the goals are at your back.

That's 50% of the play, what about the other 50%?

Unless Neil Craig is coach again and were kicking it backwards into their forward line?

Not Chasing, harassing, pressure, tackling and getting back to cover space and area for them to lead into can be constituted as being lazy.

LOL so because he "isn't the problem" it means he can't be dropped?

Awesome logic bro! :thumbsu:

Don't just answer this based on today's game

Are you happy with the way Otten holds his ground in a 1+1 contest and his intent to tackle?

Personally I believe that he goes to ground way to easy and misses way too many tackles.

Except for a half of footy i thought Otto's form across pre-season was poor and he has now carried this form into the season proper

IMO the call for Otto to be dropped are very much justified, 4 possession game last week and I knew from the first Qtr when Otto got easily pushed aside on the goal line that again it wasn't going to be his day

Out:
Thompson (rested)
Tippett (rested)
Doughty (poor form)
Petrenko (poor form)
Otten (poor form)

In:
Lyons (reward)
Wright (reward)
Shaw (reward)
Brown (development)
One of Johnston/Jenkins/Mckernan/Hendo (cover for a resting Tippett)

Want to see plenty of different/young players rotating through the midfield this week (e.g. Kerridge, Martin, Lyons, Wright). We should also take this opportunity to rest invaluable players like Thompson (this may help us later in the year). Should use this game to both send a message to the main group that the effort displayed in the Hawks game was unacceptable by dropping several players as well as take advantage of this developmental opportunity to give our kids a chance to experience games at AFL level. Even with an under-strength side like the one mentioned we should still be able to get an easy win.

My immediate thoughts

Out
- Otten
- Martin

In
- Henderson
- Shaw
Martin needs to go into the midfield rotations where he has played for Sturt. Lets stick with guys who have talent. He played without his flair cause he was worried about his man (had stints on Rioli and Osborne who didnt have that great games) and he is worried that if he takes the game on and makes errors he wont be there next week. The coach needs to tell him "we will play you" and let him get the confidence .

It's better than dropping him simply for the sake of dropping someone.

Isnt it about making the team better? Dropping him for Sam Shaw (this isn't about Sam Shaw) or anyone with limited experience is not going to make the team better.

B: Graham Johncock, Daniel Talia, Sam Shaw
HB: Brent Reilly, Tom Lynch, Brodie Smith
C: Rory Sloane, Scott Thompson, David Mackay
HF: Kurt Tippet, Ricky Henderson, Taylor Walker
F: Jason Porplyzia, Ben Rutten, Ian Callinan
Foll: Sam Jacobs, Nathan van Berlo, Patrick Dangerfield
I/C: Michael Doughty, Bernie Vince, Brodie Martin, Sam Kerridge

Out: Otten, Petrenko
In: Shaw, Henderson

change it up this week I reckon...Lynch to CHB... Rutten to FF... Walker and Tippet at HF

Given how poorly Otten has played in all 3 games this year, Shaw or anyone else would have to play a real shocker to make the team worse.

Will it improve Shaw as a player, and therefore improve the team for the future?

Some people can't look beyond the upcoming game.

Does it really matter what I think, this board needs a whipping boy and he is it.

I think his form isn't or hasn't been as bad as some are making out. IMO we have far bigger problems with the midfield and how much or should I say how little pressure they apply to the ball carrier. If that improved, you would see an automatic improvement in Ottens performances.

I bet he isn't dropped?
