Patto plays.
IF Siddle gets a run it should be stated, last game retire. I love him, been one of the best, but there comes a time. If he plays I'd back him for 5 for.
Watching him around the squad on tv is like when Molly Meldrum used to rock up to Hey Hey it's Saturday pissed trying to get another gig.

Siddle can eat bananas like no one's business

Siddle took 7 wickets @ 42 in the Ashes. Looked like a great horses for courses pick for the first test where he was very economical, didn't look threatening and wasn't economical in the other two tests he played. I don't think a 130 km/h toiler is the right option to replace Hazlewood on a likely dull pitch but can see why he's in the mix. If it's a road then the pace of Starc and Pattinson can leak runs.

Bit over the Langer playing favourites thing. He didn't play with Siddle nor has Siddle ever played for WA. It's not like he's an up and comer Langer has coached at WA and the Scorchers who he sees something in. Langer picked him for 2 tests in the UAE then to be part of a Ashes bowling unit which helped us retain the urn. Had to LOL at Geoff Lawson chiming in. The same Geoff Lawson who couldn't fathom Starc not playing in the Ashes. The same Geoff Lawson who wanted Cummins as captain this Summer. The same Geoff Lawson who wanted Kurtis Patterson in the squad against Pakistan, not Bancroft. The same Geoff Lawson who was unsuccessful in applying to be a national selector who now thinks the system is broken. If it was up to him it would be just him and Mark Waugh weighing up whether Shaun Abbott or Moises Henriques should come in.
Starc should've played more in ashes. Kurtis should be ahead of Bancroft.
Abbott deserves shot at some stage.

Abbott in a test match? Not yet and let’s be real he’s not a test standard player. Batting isn’t good enough and his bowling isn’t near the best 3-4 in the country.

Let's see how he goes in odi's.

Don’t care if he’s MOTM in every ODI...it’s not 4 day cricket. Surely we learnt from past disasters to not puck blokes off limited overs form

Or else what Jamaica?
He will post angry things on the internet until he bowls well, in which he will endlessly praise the selection

Head is just as bad, at least Wade made two tons in the Ashes. We probably need to wait for these younger options to become ready. I'm a fan of Sam Hazelett from QLD though. Only issue is yet another left hander.
What crap Head is only young keep him in the side Wade is the one who should go when some batsman makes runs until then even he stays

Head’s technique leaves a lot to be desired there’s a reason for all his talent his FC average is mediocre and he is constantly throwing his wicket away

The selectors seem to rate him highly and his FC form has been strong for two years but Abbott should still be a fair way back in the queue. Cummins, Hazlewood, Starc, Pattinson and Jhye make a very good top five for the next few years. Neser is ahead of Abbott in the immediate term as well. . Siddle will probably be popping up when he's 40 too. Abbott is in that next bracket with Tremain and Meredith. I reckon Kelly will join the mix in the next few years as well.

Which recent bowlers?

A fair few spinners. The quicks have been fine. The all rounders have been a bit ODI based although that’s got better since Marsh is unavailable.

I’ve watched Abbott too much and he just isn’t as good in the long form, wouldn’t work in test cricket and his batting is number 9 at best. He’s not playing ahead of Cummins, Starc. Jhye Richardson is a better version.

Take out that joke ton against SL and those stats aren’t anywhere near as good. That’s a small point though. My main issue is he seems as dumb as a plank getting out a similar way every time. His dismissal in the first innings last test was such a typical Head dismissal

It's also worth noting that everyone had soft series in those first 15 matches.

That said, it's probably inflated for Travis but virtue of being older. Ponting, Clarke, Hayden and S.Waugh all debuted prior to 23.

kerry okeefe is suggesting a bowler from nsw second XI to come in

Not that the NSW player should play...but it’s still better than picking a 37 year old Siddle bowling 130kmph pies
