Not that the NSW player should play...but it’s still better than picking a 37 year old Siddle bowling 130kmph pies

He’ll be over 40 by Boxing Day at this rate...

The same pies that forced Australian players to refuse to play on the same ground because they were so deadly....

Take out that joke ton against SL and those stats aren’t anywhere near as good. That’s a small point though. My main issue is he seems as dumb as a plank getting out a similar way every time. His dismissal in the first innings last test was such a typical Head dismissal
Take out good scores and the average goes done? You're not resorting to that argument already are you?

How does Mark Waugh's "joke ton" against insipid England on debut rate?
Ponting making 96 on debut against 1996 Sri Lanka?

Langer's stats include his 179* at Adelaide oval against the might of Gough, Mullally, Headley Such and Ramprakash.

A young kid averaging 40 in test cricket deserves a few more chances.

That was more the pitch rather than him though. It’s time to move on, get some new blood in especially as they won’t play.

Don't confuse fierce bowling with shit pitches produced by inept groundstaff. I love Sids though, and am glad he's in the squad.

As long as he and Neser are released back to the Strikers if they don't play.

Did you not see how bad that SL side was? It was a woeful attack on a flat road at Manuka. Sure runs are runs but it would be more laughable if he didn’t get a few there. All the batsmen looked good basically, even Harris did lol

He does deserve some chances but he’s got to show he’s learning from these dismissals and not getting out the same way on repeat. He hits it in the air way too often personally. Teams will just bowl it a foot outside off and strangle him on repeat slashing outside off

Doubt they will be released till after the Sydney test. You might get 1 released if you are lucky

Abbott in a test match? Not yet and let’s be real he’s not a test standard player. Batting isn’t good enough and his bowling isn’t near the best 3-4 in the country.
I wouldn't have him there either. Yet. Every now and then I see signs he might be up to it, but given the other options he should be a way off for now.

Head’s technique leaves a lot to be desired there’s a reason for all his talent his FC average is mediocre and he is constantly throwing his wicket away
You haven't changed one bit lol. I haven't posted in 8 months. First day back and same old lol. As soon as head gets a ton you'll be his biggest fan.

If he shows he can construct a test innings and not get out being brain dead, sure. He’s got to show that though. His first innings dismissal in Perth was a perfect example why even hit it in the air? There’s a deep cover just take the single.

All jokes aside. I agree with you. It's so frustrating watching him work so hard only to lose concentration time and time again. Anywho, it's good to be back LP. How's this place been in my absence?

Same old oh except half the forum wanted us to make them follow on in 40 degree temperatures last test lol

Pretty much and these bowlers have a long summer. Won easily anyway.
It was a great win. Good to see Mitchell Starc back in the wickets. Hopefully he can back it up though because he's always been a bit up and down. My favourite part was Matt Wade pretending he was Happy Gilmore in the batting cage. Taking short balls to the body. The heat must have done a number on him

Wades batting should have got MOTM for the hilarious nature!

Plus Head is actually been in the leadership group as well during that time....vice captain....none of those boys had any of those worries in their first 15 tests.....so I guess Head should be given more time...but geez he really needs to learn from his mistakes....talks a good talk about his mistakes.....but really needs to walk the talk soonish....Ponting was certainly not happy with Heads first innings dismissal....really needs to convert those 50s of his....

Needs to be mentioned that all of those players below head on the list were great players with ponting and Waugh world class because NONE of those other players got to play on roads day in day out like head. Vice captain or not he's got it easier than those guys

Would pick Pattinson ahead of all other options for Boxing Day.

In the past I would have been concerned with Pattinson's control, but I think he's tightened up from what I've seen of him in recent times. I'm not sure he has the capacity to blow away the opposition at the highest level anymore, but I feel that he's not that likely to leak excessive runs.

Siddle shouldn't be any more than an emergency backup and I'm not sold on Neser at the highest level despite his fielding. From what I've seen of him, he does generate some movement in the right conditions but ultimately his action brings to mind three different bowlers: 1) Peter Siddle, 2) a shorter Morne Morkel and 3) Nixon McLean. The first has been a solid servant but certainly not superior to the likes of Pattinson, the second generates much more bounce and the third could never crack Test cricket despite doing well in county cricket.

That same attack knocked over South Africa in South Africa for under 260 runs 4 times in a row within 1 month of this.

South Africa are terrible especially now ABDV is retired and Amla is past his best.

Every international team sucks and no runs count. Got it.

Barring India they do actually it’s a pretty weak era of flat track home bullying from all sides. South Africa have been dreadful since ABDV retired. Markham has barely got a run either.
