Or they could just pick the Victorian side?

That obviously doesnt include his hundred when captaining aus A against the poms earlier .

If you can't average 40 in shield cricket than you shouldn't be considered for test selection.

They would do no better, face it, Australia are just a worse cricketing country than England at the moment.

Shane Watson
Shaun Marsh
Mark Cosgrove
Usman Khawaja
Michael Hussey*
David Hussey
Brad Haddin+
Nathan Hauritz
Ryan Harris
Trent Copeland
Hilfenhaus/Johnson

OUT: Hughes, Ponting, Clarke, Smith, Johnson/Hilfenhaus & Siddle
IN: Marsh, Cosgrove, Khawaja, Hussey, Hauritz & Copeland

Now that the series is shot, and Harris' foot is f****d...

Hughes
Marsh
Cosgrove
Khawaja
Hussey
Watson
Haddin
O'Keefe
Johnson
Siddle
Copeland

How many times does it need to be said- Sean Marsh is NOT AN OPENER!

Pick him at 3, 4, 5 or 6. He averages about 2 opening the batting!

You can tell me another hundred times, I'll still pick him there ;)

Swap him with Cosgrove if it makes you happy...

As long as Watson's not opening, and Cosgrove, Khawaja and Copeland are in the eleven, I don't mind.

I forgot to add to my team, basically because he won't be picked by the idiot selectors, that I am firmly of the belief that Jason Krejza is the best spinner in the country and by a long way.

Can we miraculously cure Shaun Taits body somehow? He would have gone for a few but got us crucial wickets with his extra pace and unpredictability.

Yes, those 4 consecutive deliveries he's capable of bowling every 6 months would've been really handy today.

So the Vic supporters have already forgotten the nightmare of last year's domestic one-day final drubbing at the hands of Wade's former state then?

He wasn't very good at catching that day. :D

Aye he is 20, and will get better and has maybe 1 or 2 bad games, paine is the best keeper in the land, followed by Hartley and Wade.

Haddin is rubbish almost every game as a keeper.

Wade is actually not shabby at all, and - as you say - is getting better.

Although I don't think most Victorian fans appreciate it yet, he is already the best player in their squad. Not to mention the one with the most potential.

We're hardly in the position to be picking out of form players.

So you would prefer to stick with our out of form Test players then I presume. In which case we'd be in the position of picking out of form players which you say we are hardly in the position to be picking.

No

I'd select in form players.

Khawaja, Marsh and Cosgrove for example.
Copeland as well.

What I would Like to See in Sydney

Hughes
Cosgrove (The selectors need to open there eyes Inform Batsman in AUS)
Watson
Khwaja
Hussey
Ponting
Paine
Smith
Johnson
Siddle
Hilfy

12th Copeland

their is noway to justify picking paine ahead of wade. in any format. wade has him covered,

I'd be looking at bringing in one or two (preferably) of Khawaja, White and Cosgrove.

Not good to say but Sydney should be Ponting's last test for Australia. He has been given about 3 times as long as anyone else to produce and he hasn't. His test record over the last two or three years is obvious evidence to his decline.
As someone mentioned previously, his reflexes just aren't there anymore.
He isn't good enough anymore. It's that simple.

Clarke should be dropped as well. You pick your best XI and if players continually fail to produce (and like Ponting he has been given many, many chances) the only fair thing is to relegate them and promote others. You can't define your rules based on a players marketability.

Hughes doesn't look threatening at all. But is there a better option to open? Simon Katich obviously but who else is there? Klinger has had a poor season after two brilliant ones, unfortunate for him because he would be most deserved if this wasn't the case.
Jaques? What's his form like?

Hauritz is the best spinner in Australia and should probably play in Sydney.

Tough decisions before Sydney but I think we all know they'll take the easy option and retain the consistently under performing big names and only replace the injured Harris with Hauritz/Beer.
