ive got a new team that would win easily

Hill
Rogers
Hodge
D.Hussey
White(C)
Finch
Mcdonald
Wade
Mckay
Hastings
Siddle

12th man holland.

that team would have won this series 4-0 against england.

Has anyone raised the prospect of Paine as an opener?

Not sure on his numbers but purely based on technique, I think he could do the job with success. Haddin still to wicket keep if that was the case.

Why, when Paine is the better keeper?

All this becomes irrelevant as Boonie was on AW tonight saying we need to keep faith in the team and he pointed out Hughes in particular as one of the players we have to persevere with. He said any panicking or wholesale changes will be detrimental to the future of Australian cricket.

Makes me wonder, what would the best outcome for the Sydney test be?

Get a humiliation shellacking like here in Melbourne so the heat is applied even more, and changes are more heavily called for.

Or

A great inspirational victory, great for us all, but masking the real depth of the problem?

As much as i hate myself for wanting it, but i know which outcome i would prefer.

According to their poll, 70% of readers thinking Ponting should step down.

Ouch.
A poll recently done by CA confirmed what most of us already new. That the aust. public want cam white as our next captain.A disasterous result for CA who have banked everything in clarkes account.A stunning outcome given they wont play him but the aust. public have seen through the crap.

The Australian public want Cameron White? Or the VICTORIAN public?

It's what happens when your easily the country's best captain. People eventually notice. Suits me. It's time to set up a new era and remove anything to do with the "boys club" away from the leadership. Some experience of course combined with new blood. Clarke's done well enough in the shorter forms of the game as captain but he has enough issues with form. Plus,as I said, I want a complete fresh start at the top.

Not just changes to the team but the selectors as well. Break the "boy's club" bonds completely. Selectors with no bias's.

CA must've fudged the figures for some reason....lol!

How do you know what Australia thinks? Opinion polls work ok in politics and give an indication how the nation feels. You mightn't want him but it seems other do.

My next test team
Hughes (must persist with him)
S.Marsh (need a batsman, not an allrounder)
Ponting (last home test, after that Khawaja)
M.Clarke (just, been our best for a while before this series. And please get him out our T20 side)
M.Hussey (still got it, for a little while anyway)
Watson ( getting to 50 every 2nd bat good for no. 6, not for an opener, scores quickly if we are going well, or can dig in if we are struggling. Also prob need a few more overs from him)
Haddin ( I had Paine in front of him at start of series but credit where its due)
Hauritz (although they will definitely pick Beer, just to have a look at him)
Johnson (must stick with him, just gotta get him right)
Siddle (hopefully realises from his MCG performance that line, length and patience go a long way, rahter than the short shit he bowled in Perth, although got no doubt he was bowling how he was asked to bowl.)
Final spot would depend on whether they want an extra spinner, in that case S. Smith (another we need to stick with, just not at no. 6)
Or another seamer would probably go with either McKay or George, Hilfenhaus just seems to be labouring and I reckon Doug has pushed himself down the queue a bit after Adelaide. Can't see the point of playing Katich (can't possibly be 100% fit).
I acually don't think selectors will make any changes, apart from Beer in for Harris, Ashes already gone, they will/should give this team the chance to salvage the series.

Watson as a batsmen is wasted at 6

He has to bat at 3 or 4.

Clarke should move to 6.

or 75% of the respondents were Victorian's who act like a good % of BF posters who believe White is a combination Of Ian Chappell, Mark Waugh and Shane Warne rather than just a good ordinary plodder

so many posts on this thread:

thats why the selectors are selectors

they dont have to listen to the advice of every second clown posting suggestions here :)

that is life

If Beer plays, we will get lapped. Picking a defensive spinner when we have another defensive bowler in silly Hilfenhaus...and relying on Mitch pitching it on the stumps and Siddle playing well for 2 tests in a row, lol!

corrected for accuracy :)

and what does that have to do with anything? Are you now advocating that White should not only replace Smith but also Clarke and Hughes.

Are we going into the next game with White the Superhero and only 8 others? no need to play XI anymore? Surely we don't expect White to open the batting?

Because the selectors have done such a magnificent job in the years since the departure of McGrath, Warne etc

I'd say a fair percentage of the posters on here have made fair and reasonable assessments and offered teams with are far better than the one that will inevitably get selected for Sydney. Being free from the internal politics that undoubtedly run CA seems to be correlated with an increase in common sense.

Ok I have seen this been said time and time again here. That is S Marsh being selected. Shaun is NOT a good enough first class batsmen to make it at international level and he never will be. In the ODI and twenty20 versions he is superb, as most likely will be his brother. However is first class cricket he is not and believe me will NEVER get a baggy green. There is about 20+ batsmen infront of him at the moment.

Disagree. Marsh and Khawaja are EXACTLY what we need.

I look at it this way, our lineup at the moment has 5 strokemakers and Hussey, as well as Haddin at 7. You need some old fashioned "grafters" in your lineup. That is why I am not all for Callum Ferguson coming in as he is another strokemaker. You need some stodgy, uncompromising batsmen in your lineup. England have 3 in their top 6- Bell, Trott and Collingwood. That is a perfect setup with the 3 strokemakers in Cook, Strauss, and KP, as well as Prior.

Put it this way who are you banking on in SAVING a test...Hussey..and? You need more than one.
