Browns game was just servicable on the weekend.....by his standards, you could call it a decent game. He ran around the MCG directing traffic most of the day, and if he does that against the Hawks, ie; being were the footy isn't alot of the time and grabbing cheap wide posessions, we are going to get killed!

And how people can defend swallow is beyond me! Too slow and his disposal is laughable in my opinion. Fair enoguh he is hard at it and a decent in and under player, but his disadvantages far outway this one advantage. By years out I can see Campbell spending alot more time in the guts and Leigh Adams taking over Swallows mantle. And Rooboy88 hit the nail on the head, with Rawlings, Simpson and Swallow in the guts we are doomed.....and Swallow is certainly the most dispensable! Need more quality disposal in the middle.

For mine I would get Smith into the team ASAP! If his ready to go he is the quality we need.

Changes:
OUT: Watt & Swallow
IN: Smith & Ross/Hansen (depending on matchups)

Agreed. That's why I struggle to comprehend why we have a 196cm overweight slow midfielder in the side who's softer than marshmallows.

Dean seems to have him playing as a switch hitting third tall defender and a hard body around the middle. His long kicking going forward was also good and this goes some way to compensating the poorer skills of our in and unders.

I don't know what all the complaining is about, he was very servicable on Sunday. I'd actually like to see him slip further forward and try to get a goal or two out of him every game. He certainly added more to the team in one game than Hale has contributed in two.

If anything Leigh deserves a crack as the third tall forward in Hales place.

Leigh is not soft either. He has completely ironed out two blokes in the last handful of matches I have seen him play.

Hmmm.... one has played 2 games, the other 180.

Yeah, no difference there.
Yes Blue. There is plenty of upside in Hansen. The same can't be said about Brown. The fact is this. Brown played well on the weekend and deserves another shot this week. As Billy Bones pointed out Brown has been reasonable throughout the preseason. Could he be finally turning the corner? Remember you wanted to crucify Petrie and he finally came good? How good would it be if the Boggled One lived up to his potential and played some decent football. He looks in good knick physically. This is his last shot and I'm backing the Big Fella.:thumbsu:

Give Swallow a chance. He's a young guy that had a great season last year and we're 2 games in. I'd say give him another 2 weeks to prove himself.

The reason I haven't blasted Hale yet is I suspect there is something very wrong with H. Looks to be massively struggling. He will never stop competing that boy but something feels iffy there for mine.

I think you'll find Davids problem is between his ears.

He was moving around alright on Sunday.

Sorry mate by H I meant Hamish. The reason I have not had a crack at Hale is because to me Hamish looks massively underdone, looks more like a virus than anything. But does not bode well, so I expect Hale to find himself more in the ruck over the next few weeks. It should hopefully prove beneficial.

Swallow is 20 and played 39 games, be fair to say he has plenty of development still in him. He has got some areas where he needs to work on, but lets not throw the baby out with the bath water.

That laughable disposal won us a game last may. Cut the kid some slack.

does anyone else apart from me wonder why scott thompson was ever dropped?
I wonder that. And also everyone has been harping on about Brown's game last week, but S.Thompson in the first round was better than Brown's game in round 2. Much cleaner with the pill. I'd say bring in Thompson for Harding, although I did like Harding's game last week.

Tripe.

Did Brown concede 4 goals to his opponent?

All I remember is I saw him contributing to stopping 2 and setting up 3.

Really? Can you specify these goals he created and stopped?

Agreed on the majority there but i'm seriously regretting my comments about Harding early on. Seems much more comfortable down back and is relishing the challenge. The fact he is miles away from goal is also a weight off everyone's shoulders me thinks. Hope his form continues though, there's about 8 20 year olds who could take his place in a heartbeat. ;)

It's hardly Thompson's fault that we haemorrhaged goals in that game. Gibson conceded 5 goals on Lloyd and was a terrible matchup, but he wasn't dropped. It was the midfield's fault for not putting enough pressure on their opponents. Thompson looked composed off half back under enormous pressure.
And of course Brown didn't concede any goals, he didnt have a ____ing opponent.

Yes, I will refer to the replay and get back to you with times and better descriptions etc.

I'll be interested in your response. I recall him kicking long to the square and Thommo marked it and goaled in the 2nd qtr, so that's one. But I don't recall any other direct involvement unless you plan to include being in a chain of handballs that eventually led to a goal.

I don't want to get into any more Brown-bashing, but with the exception of Hale, everyone did OK on Sunday, so you're not saying much when you talk up Leroy's game. I think that the many people who want him out of the side just feel there are plenty of better options. I certainly think that there are.

Fair enough....but you must concede that with the disposal of Rawlings, Simmo and Swallow, we are almost fighting a losing battle. Really think he needs time in the ressies to develop further! Granted he has time on his sleeve but I think we may be well served with Smith, Adam or Ross in place of Swallow!

Saying that I am willing to give swallow another week but he is really wearing thin with me....

Plenty of better options you say. Well why don't these plenty of better options kick arse in the lower grades and earn senior selection?

Like the Boggler does?

I agree that Spitter may need a week or two in the VFL. I'm not bagging him. It just seems that he is hesitating just enough to create issues when he has the ball. His tackle count is terrific and I'm not bagging his work rate.

I'd like to see Grima get a go. Especially since he needs to prove himself or he'll be off the list after this season. He worked his butt off as well as using the ball well last Saturday. Nothing wrong with making a change to get the player in best form in and keep guys working for their spots.

Only other change I would make is JWS for Brownie. Upgrade in speed, talent, and versatility. You can't keep him out of the side. Just too good.

Could swap S Thompson for Watt as well, but I don't believe that will happen.

Ross will continue to push our small quick players hard!
