Nevertheless, playing Pavlich through the middle shows how dumb our coaching staff are. If he was up forward we wouldn't even have to worry about our forward deficiencies.

We lost because of Cox dominating in the third and whomever was on Shuey got toweled, Lower?. I know DeBoer got moved on to him late in the third but damage was done.

It's one thing to concede the hit out to advantage but we could have done a lot more in negating their mids run to the tap and cleanly taking it away.

To blame all that on Pavlich playing in the middle is a bit steep. I think we'd have been towelled by 40 had pavlich spent the second half up forward.

Will McPharlin be suspended?
I haven't seen the incident but on the Hawks forum, most think he will get at least one (maybe just being hopeful?)
Also will Sandi be back and fit for next week?
Thanks fellas

mcpharlin will probably get a week. he did pretty much the same thing last week, but got points.

sandi could be back. he was 50/50 this week. also, our injuries this year have worked so that we gain and lose for like, so out goes a ruck, in comes the other.

Not quite sure why Roberton keeps getting a game. He's slow, he doesn't get much of the ball, he's not that tall, he can't kick and he has terrible decision making skills. Made a good contest in the 2nd quarter, but that is well and truly outweighed by being matched by Quentin Lynch for pace. I could outrun that oaf going backwards. If they cut off my feet.

Given we have a few options in the WAFL now I would have thought there are plenty of better players running around. Kepler for one.

They shouldn't even have got a free kick - Jacko said so - he was going for a mark and kennedy got in his way - McPharlin had the run at that contest - i'd be amazed if it was even looked at...you'd rub out half the players - it was nothing like last week

What does that matter? We should always aim to be the best.

Get a new barrow to push, your posts are repetitive boring twaddle.

Mellington should of been the sub against Wet Toast, need more dangerous forward pressure.Duffield needs to find form in the Wafl.
Faulks, Bucovaz, Keplar in the mix.

it could be called on negligence from what i saw, but i'd be rapt if it was disregarded, obviously.

Out - McPharlin if suspended, Roberton, Johnson,
In - Faulks (If McPharlin is out), Bucovaz, Anthony

We have an actual 50 goal full forward playing in the WAFL, in a scumbag team where they don't or can't kick it to him, while we play flankers or finger pointers at full forward. PICK JACK

Mzungu? Really? I thought he was a solid contributor.

I'd keep him in the team ahead of Roberton that's for sure, I thought he was a solid contributor as well. Not forgetting he's still finding his feet at this level.

McPharlin shouldn't go, thought he was in much more trouble last week actually, from where I sat it shouldn't have even been a free kick, both had eyes for the ball and met solidly in the air, play on.

I'm getting quite disappointed in the lack of faith Harvey has in our midfield brigade, dropping Palmer and then keeping Pav in the middle despite, IMO, Barlow/Fyfe/Hill/Lower/Broughton/De boer being a more than adequate midfield combination. There's certainly enough grunt and "inside hardness" there.

I'd have Pearce and Mellington in, as well as Sandi if fit.

I'm still surprised people keep suggesting Johnno as an out, when will people realise he's one of the untouchables

That missed opportunity in the last was dreadful though, nobody within 20 metres of him he should have nailed an easy goal. I'd much prefer Keplar play but it aint gonna happen.

I dont think there is any need to make panic changes i.e - bringing in people like Hinkley, Pearce etc..

I dont think Duffield should have started sub, especially with Hayden out of the team. Suban should have definately been the sub to be eased in, if Hayden wasnt injured I would think Suban could have used an extra week in the WAFL. And why was McPharlin not on Kennedy, as good as Silvagni is, Kennedy took 3 high marks that McPharlin would've spoiled.

I didnt think anyone was outrageously bad today, and I am reluctant to play anyone from the WAFL who is not really pushing for selection - but my changes would be:

IN: Bradley (was terrific early season and has good WAFL form, but is now our of favour why?), Palmer (has been getting some consistent form at AFL and is back to taking the game on a little)
OUT: Johnson (one tall needs to go and it is either him or Clarke, or Crowley, Johnsons 2 missed goals were crutial today and Clarke showed an intestity he previously hasnt today) and Roberton a bit of a nothing player at this moment. If anyone else has noticed, Roberton always make a token effort to smother.

There are some good points that Mayne should not be the main forward and I totally agree, McPhee should not be played in the midfield and nor should Clarke.

B Duffield McPharlin Grover
HB Ibbotson Silvagni Hill
C Mzungu Barlow Lower
HF Ballantyne Pavlich Mayne
F McPhee Bradley de Boer
R Griffin Fyfe Broughton
I Clarke Palmer Crowley Suban

Hope for Sandilands back asap and some more of the WAFL guys to put some pressure on.

I didn't even think Roberton was that bad as he did well in some critical defensive situations. Thought Mzungu was alright as well.

Me too. There's too much Roberton hate in this thread IMO. He always battles hard was hardly our worst player today. And the Mzungu debate is ridiculous. Tendai played a very decent game. Sure his disposal lets him down sometimes, but it was a very high pressured game and he's a first year AFL player and I think people are rating him against extremely unrealistic expectations.

A bigger concern for me is the way guys are coming back in with limited preparation. Suban looked like he needs more time in the WAFL and several others have come straight back in this season with limited success. Still I guess the long injury list contributes to this.

I would expect few if any non-forced changes. That was a damn good effort by the boys.

In: Mellington, Pearce, Sandi (if fit), Bucovaz

Out: Mayne, Mcphee, Griffen (if injured), Suban

I would say Roberton was the worst for us.
He was shocking.
His bad massively out weighs the good.
Cant take a mark, always craps himself worried about guys coming from behind an drops it usually ending up with other teams scoring from it.
Slow/poor decision maker.
Turns it over far too often.

Too slow an doesnt have skills to become a midfielder.
Too weak an doesnt have balls to be a running/looseman defender.
Doesnt have strength or ability to be 3rd tall defender.

I just cant see a role for him right now an want him out ASAP

I dont normally bag players especially young ones but im about ready to give up on Roberton, starting to remind me of Thornton only difference is Thornton was actually pretty good at spoiling.

I reckon Griff, Suban, and maybe Mayne will struggle to get over the injuries. I also think Elvis is gone at the MRP.

That said, I think we bring in Faulks, Palmer, Keps and either of Mello or Pearce in. I'd like to drop a couple of others due to poor form but we just don't have the replacements if 4 are out to injury/suspension.

Talk of dropping Mzungu is just nonsense.

Hard to see Johnson getting dropped, it was possibly his best game this year - he was mediocre. Only made a couple of critical errors in that last quarter.

But in any case, it's getting to a stage in the year where you want to make as few changes as possible. So I wouldn't have thought there'd be more than 1 unforced change, 2 max.

Agree with the idea that if there are no injuries or suspensions we try to limit the changes - I'm just not sure our luck with injuries is gonna change anytime soon. Apparently Roberton might also be facing a review by the MRP? For what exactly I don't know, just saw it mentioned on a game review article...

I heard it also I think it was for not being able to run fast:rolleyes:

I thought Roberton was fine. Went really hard at it today and did some good things.

He didn't have a bad game - but I can't recall anything that he did that would warrant a report or citing? The article mainly focused on Elvis and his hit on Kennedy, but then mentioned Roberton might also get a citation. Dunno what for...
