Out: bateman, whitex, Ladson

in: muston, shoenmakers, Franklin

If young misses- rotate musto, burgs, Lewis, birch etc through the wings and bring in Breust.

Wow! Ladson and Whitecross had really good games. Two goals a piece, heaps of tackles each plus a huge goal saving tackle from Ladson, 5 inside 50 from each player, etc, etc...

I'm still not sold on Whitecross, either, but when he's doing all the right things on the park, you have to respect it.

Have all the " play B.Dowler " crowd finally excepted that to get promoted you actually have to do something at Box Hill.

No, we've ACCEPTED that he wont play again for the seniors, ever. Muston had 8 kicked on him last weekend so he should be a shoe-in this week.

To reply to an earlier post, Savage has been god awful, so he may be in line for a call-up soon too.

Please dont mistake me and think that i actually have anything against these players in dropping them. On the contrary. As our team is clearly experimenting with different things, and with some really tough match ups against the crows despite their injuries- i think we have an opportunity to send both players back to BH with specific instructions to play in the midfield... and bring in guys who replace the run of changa, and provide better match ups for what is still a very potent adelaide forward half if you dont pay it enough respect.

My theory on whiteX is that he has one pace or 'his own game pace' at the moment... he needs to play in the guts to have bodies hitting him constantly, to learn how to break away and run with purpose in order to add more intense or higher intensity to his game... he's a diligent young man who i believe could actually be more than a BP, or hff type player--- as it stands i would play breust in a heart beat over him in the HFF role because of natural flair... im not saying brendan needs flair- but he needs to be thrown around a bit to bring more purpose to his game, more contested work, and less reactionary type football.

Similarly with Ladson, while he played forward, and while he probably considers himself a backman... i want him to go to BH and play in the guts also... with all that he is going through emotionally- he needs a way to channel that safely, while at the same time bringing his body up to speed with an intensity that can take on a freo or a geelong type team... there's not a chance in hell right now, i believe that either player is up to the pace of what those games will be... but, they could be... of course this is just my opinion.

Young says he is a chance to play this weekend, Changa is challenging his ban.

Best case scenario;

IN: Buddy
OUT: Shiels

If Young doesn't get up, then he'll make way (instead of Shiels) for Buddy.

If Bateman's suspension is withheld then bring in Muston.

Shoenmakers is ahead of Dowler for a senior call up.

No problem. I see you're thinking the whole thing through. I thought Ladson did look good in the center and if he has any issues, dropping him after that cracking game would be the wrong thing to do. I thought he looked like a rejuvenated player, much the same as Osborne has looked, since his enforced break.

WhiteX still doesn't look settled, but is getting a little better week after week.

Good thoughts of yours, anyway. :)

WhiteX looks safe. His role looked like he was deliberately taking a defensive runner out of position and he kicked a couple. Close to a perfect game instruction wise.

Assuming no Chang and Young. Bud and Savage.

In: JKT, Franko

Out - Young, Bateman

I would like to see musto get a chance, however, i donot think clarko will put him in. JKT may be the answer as he is a direct replacement for young and musto is playing back for box hill, although i would love to see musto kick 70m to buddy on the chest

Shoey - would like to see him, don't see it happening

True, but Bock and Vince didn't play last week, Davis got smacked earlyish on and put out, McLeod very quiet with 9 disposals, the only one who did any damage of any of those was Edwards obviously with 32 touches and 2 goals in his swansong game. So apart from him we're basically the same as last week's team who did Freo, and Bock is a possible in yet (haven't checked latest injury status though).
My source tells me he is struggling, but the Crows are desperate for his return. Should he not come up Stevens will get the job on Franklin.

I have never seen a crowd so against one player how the Crows fans were in Adelaide in 2008 when we won by 4 points.

I was there. They hate him for obvious reasons but every time he got near the ball there was booing and every time he kicked a point they would celebrate just as loudly as the would if they kicked a goal.

They would have to be the most hostile crowd in the league, we would lose if we were playing at football park this Saturday.

Rhan Hooper is listed as Test on the AFL website. Should he be able to come in now, or after the break, will have a huge bearing on our finals chances.
But this week:
In: Franklin, JKT (Possibly)
Out: Bateman, Young (Hopefully not)

Ooo.. interesting selection. Why Savage?

To me I'd put Muston in instead of SS, and release Birchall up the ground.

It is a sad outlook from me. I dont rate too many of our young players. Sav is struggling but he can play. Sav may surprise not confident any of the other contenders would.

Actually Stevens is playing pretty well at the moment. But he is no Buddy.

Not so sure about your sources, on Adelaide 9 news tonight they said Bock trained freely and without hinderance today and should be back in this week. If he is, it'd be the first game all year that he and Stiffy have played together with a bit of form behind them. Stiffy has been tearing it up, and Bock was hitting his old form when he went out injured to miss last week's game. Rutten is also hitting good form. I'm happy with our defense already this week, but if Bock comes in we should be quite strong down back.

Probably got something to do with that Elimination Final in 2007 Shepp....ah, the memories!:D

I wouldn't want to risk him if he's proppy. I'd be inclined to give him another week, then play him against the Bombers. Although, again, if proppy you'd be inclined to let him have the split round off also, and bring him in fresh for the crunch games after the break.

But then again, there all crunch games, aren't they? I'd love to have him back.

Given Laddo seemed to play a defensive forward type role last weekend on Pearce, I figured he may play on McLeod. Seeing as McLeod won't play I hope he gets a gig on Stiffy. Is there someone else that the Crows use as their 'runner' from defence?

I hope Hoops gets up, but given mid year break is two weeks away we may err on the side of caution and give him until after the break?

So:

We know Changa is out and Buddy is in.

If Young is out, do we need more talls or runners? Forecast for Launceston on Sunday is perfect conditions, Fine but cool, light winds, maximum of 11. Schoey would be a given if we go with extra tall, but if we need a runner, who?

I think a player who plays a similar style of game would be the way to go. The only guy that immediately springs to mind is JKT, but I'm not sure what his form has been like at BH. Mind you this hasn't seemed to matter on other occasions this year when guys have been brought in with few runs on the board.

I liked the look of JKT in the games he played, particularly against the Roos, but it's just as likely that Muston, Savage, Tuck or even Morton would be picked ahead of him.

Your problem is Franklin, and Bock is the answer - but only if fit. If they play him half-baked, it spells trouble. Likewise if he doesn't play. I wouldn't have thought Stevens is a match for him..

I heard that Bock was doing light training only and would be assessed later in the week. Still a very big question mark over his head.
