I thought Rance was very good tonight, got caught holding the ball by Betts in the second quater which looked bad but didn't put a foot wrong besides that...looked good in the pre season too imo, keep him in.

I think Tuck needs to come back in. Getting flogged in the clearances without playing our best clearence player was a poor move from the match committee as far as I'm concerned. He cops a fair bit of criticism on bigfooty but is a very important player for us until he can be replaced.

Well stating "Rance is horrible" is weak, mate. At least construct an argument. Player bashing becomes very tiresome and Mods should be setting the example. Apologies if it was out of line.

Not so much tonight (although I thought he was good in the first half), but Vickery has proven you wrong. You had previously claimed he was incapable of showing anything which he has since countered. Most around here would concede he's tracking great for a young tall.

I thought Rance was good tonight. Had a brain fade when caught by Betts but bet his man most the night and saved a few goals with sheer desperation.

Mods may have just as much of a right to sling shit over players as everybody else but as they are supposed to maintain the standards of the place maybe they should try setting an example instead of descending to the lowest common denominator.
Hmmm..so I am not allowed to criticise our players?
OK...Rance has no footy smarts. Show it tonight on many occasions. Has no awareness...gets mown down from behind. Takes no pack marks. Is a bad kick. Doesn't play tall, doesn;t play small and doesn't take on the medium forwards.
Is that OK?

Out: Edwards McGuane
In: Tuck Gourdis

Edwards not up to AFL standard poor decision making and turns over the ball. Mcguane needs to do more been in the system for a while and not improving.

Out: [Any of the following]
Helbig - Not ready for AFL level
Houli - WOG
McGuane - Has peaked as a player and is not AFL standard
Nahas - Small who is 23 [!] and not AFL standard

Edwards would want to improved a lot next week

mate thats really terrible calling houli a wog, i mean honestly.
you're probably a fully grown man saying things like that, its really quite sad.
by the way i actually thought nahas was quite good tonight, was really willing to break the lines and open up the match. one of the only players to take the game on.
but yeah, you are criticizing these players yet it is poor form on your behalf by calling houli a wog. very poor mate.

We really have some delusional supporters if people think Rance had a good game.

I now see why bigfooty gets such a bad rap.

Houli was definitely the WOG in the game tonight. I just don't like WOG's and will always criticize them.

Worst On Ground for you droolers out there.

Worst On Ground animated tiger.

Nahas as a 23yo small shouldn't just be "doing things" he should be at the peak of his ability and performance.

Helbig i am not knocking, he showed some good signs, but he just looks like he isn't ready for AFL.

take my comment back RFC7, but honestly, he was definately not the worst on ground. there was much worse: edwards, astbury...

He meant WOG as in Worst On Ground.
I think I willgo back and change the post to avoid any further confusion.

dont really understand all the Rance bashing, i thought he was pretty good tonight and fairly consistent for all 4 quarters (unlike some others).

Generally, the backline did pretty well considering the sheer weight of volume the blues had. For me we lost this game mostly because we got flogged out of the middle and then around the ground in terms of picking up players etc. We matched them in this regard in the 3rd quarter and look what happened.

Some of the movement out of the backline in the first half wasnt great, but again, thought that was mostly as a result of poor movement up the field.

Rance made the odd mistake, but he is stil young and i was pretty happy with his game. If anything, i was disappointed in Newmann and Deledio who were not as effective defensively as they should be. And Mcguane i would still drop, not necessarily because he was poor tonight per se, but more so because i dont think he is the answer as a KPD long term, and would rather Post, Gourdis or Moore down back. (or Grime when ready) (and yes i realise Post is being groomed as a KPF)

Overall, we lost tonight because we arent as developed, fit, or as well practiced in our game plan as the blues.

If we are looking to attribute blame there are a lot of blokes who were missing for large portions, and Rance IMO was not one of them. Blokes like Cotchin, Martin, Deledio etc were just not good enough in the first half, and we probably burnt a lot of fuel tickets in that third quarter getting back into it.

yeah i realised once i read down tugga, but obviously you could see where people might get confused. seeing as houli doesnt exactly look like the pretty little white boy haha. but yeah, dont think he was worst on ground.

Absolutely I can see where the confusion is.
No probs.
Bazaar...as I have said, if you have a problem with the moderating on this board, send me a PM and we can talk about it. Don't bring it up on the public forum.

Wasn't too unhappy with the game but we got smashed in the clearances.

Although playing different guys in the middle will help their development, I'm not sure how much it will help them when we are getting smashed in there.

I would bring in Tuck for Edwards.... the Saints won't expose his pace issue (not as bad as sometimes alleged on here). I'd love to have a look at Tommy D but I think Kingy should come straight away.... not really sure who for???

Seriously ... no one thought we'd win first up and we we were close. We are where we are we are...not good enough!!
No us echanging...and besides Houli was far from our worse, was actually quite good!!

hmm have to watch the saints this round, see how different theyve tried to make themselves. i expect theyre still well above us, but the game late last year against them was encouraging. :thumbsu: id be keeping batchelor and helbing in. edwards can go out. tuck back in.

Tuck in for Foley, I'm sorry but he needs some time @ Coburg.
King in for Edwards.

Those saying Nahas, did you actually watch the game:confused: I'm no fan of the midget but he was one of the guys that actually gave us some spark at times and broke the lines.

Tuck - Edwards
King - Helbig

Play Deledio up the ground, wing or in the centre even forward he is a terrible defender IMO.

Do not use Connors as a SUB he can take Deledio's HB role.

Foley had gastro wasnt going to play but should be fine for next week.

Foley, Tuck and Martin in the middle with Deledio and Cotchin coming in off the wings to win the outside ball?

Was impressed with Nahas was quick and effective, Rance has shown improvement, Batchelor was effective as was Conca.

Also where's Gourdis? Grimes? Thursfield? Webberley?

Also never bounce the ball in the wet...bit of a no brainer really. :)

Some astute points in this post IMO, ones which had a real bearing on the result.

Foley started well and then had to come off with his gastro which left you a mid-fielder short early in the game.

As for Deledio, his run and carry should be in the middle IMO, rather than defense, where he is far too loose.

If Foley and Deledio had played in the middle all game, it might have been a different result.

The only 2 players that looked a bit of a worry was Edwards, whose disposal was horrid, and McGuane who tries hard, but looks a little short of the standard required IMO.
