Carlton look pretty depleted coming into this game. I said it was a danger game based solely on the game we're coming off but it's a simple must win when you consider:

Cripps - call it rested, but he didn't train with his cork so could be below 100%. But no doubt he'll play.

Cerra - hamstring, facing fitness test, I assume plays?

Jack Martin - calf, won't play.

Silvagni - knee, assume won't play?

Motlop - calf, assume won't play?

McKay - knee, won't play.

Boyd - suspended (I honestly don't even know who he is)

Kennedy - knee, won't play.

Owies - calf, won't play.

Pittonet played VFL coming back from a knee, may come back in.

Also Williams obviously out for the season with his knee.

A lot of those players have been decent against us over recent seasons.
They never stop whining. Last year they said we only won the first time because Weitiering went down and it was all about " wait until we face you with Weitering and our best team" which they had the second time and we know what happened. We thumped them early this year with their best up and running. Now it will be "if only we had Walsh and McKay" . We endured years of crippling injuries and were roundly mocked by all and sundry for daring to make excuses. It was all about next soldier up and 22 vs 22. Motlop was floundering in their Ressies until a week ago when he got a reprieve and kicked a few against Port's ressies. Martin has played about 6 games in 2 seasons. Kennedy is constantly injured and when he does play even the Blues fans bemoan his lack of leg speed. McKay is a good forward but overhyped like his brother. They have left Pittonet out even when available recently. Just more excuse making.

We played the second best team in the comp, not everyone in our team is going to look like a superstar. I’m still confident that the 22 that started are the best 22 on our list and any replacement wouldn’t perform better.

I think the game also showed is this 23 is very versatile and can adapt to the challenge the opposition puts to us.

I worry about Bobby in a big pressure final. Physically he wet the bed a few times on Sat night. Was similar Anzac Day
That's my concern. He's the better option for speed, no contest.
He's the better option for skill.
He's not the better option for big games. That's my concern

At this stage our entire starting midfield is out (Cripps, Walsh, Cerra, Kennedy, plus our main ruck in Pittonet) along with McKay.

It's not looking great for us at this stage. We're pretty much down to Ed Curnow, George Hewett, Patty Dow and mature age recruit Alex Cincotta as our starting 4 in the guts if none of those get up.

Pains me to say it, but our only hope in this match is if you blokes rest a few to get ready for finals.

Cripps will play. But you guys are flucked anyway. Then you will need to go 3-1 to make finals. Queensland is nice in September.

Not so sure about omitting Mason.

He's just been given a roast by Kingy about being Seinfeld (A big show about nothing) and a contract extension. You'd have to imagine a guy with a healthy ego like him would be pretty stung. It will be a wet and cold Friday night so he won't be expected to mark and be much of a forward threat but he would be handy with his taps - which to my eye looked pretty good on Saturday night - and whether or not you rate Carlton it would be much better to get first touch from clearances.

We also haven't really got a read on our 'solid' lineup of McStay, Mihocek, Hill, Elliot as forward targets. AJ is a great player for mine and I would love to fit him into this squad too but it ain't going to happen. I believe it'll be more likely that if anyone has to go it will be someone sacrificed for a fast small forward like Ginnivan on a night where speed will likely be less of a factor than wet footy smarts.

But... looking at the team sheet. Nearly perfect for mine. If the squad is fresh and injury free, NO CHANGE.

“Important forward duo Jack Silvagni (knee) and Jesse Motlop (calf) also sat out the majority of the win against the Eagles and look likely to join an extensive injury list at Ikon Park throughout the back-end of the season.”

Carlton fans have been calling for these guys to be dropped just about every week and now they are an “important duo” 🤣

We should treasure this memory of a goldfish logic. It could earn Vossy another extension.

I think it's going to be a question if Mitchell can't lift. His recent form hasn't been good enough and Adams has been too good in the square to leave him out for Mitchell.
I feel like that might be recency bias, however. His last full game he was lauded for having 11 contested possessions amongst 24 disposals and 5 tackles. He didn’t drop off the perch that quickly.

I know it should be expected but some of the dribble being spewed out over on the Carlton board has me utterly baffled.

Excuse the term but now I hope we really bend them over good and proper.

I saw one Carlton fan say they “hope we beat the pretenders”. 🤣😂

They are delusional about the quality of their list and coach.
Time for a reality check

If we can win this one, we should presumably beat Hawthorn, and then for three weeks the scoreboard becomes the injury list much like in preseason.

Yes but... one week at a time, and all that. And don't flirt with form!

It's great that we've mathematically sewn up top 4 this early. I can't remember with 2019 (too lazy to check) but I can remember 2018 and 2022 both coming down to the final round to determine our fate.

I agree but let me put it this way; we lose to Essendon round 23 and I am mildly concerned, we lose Darcy Moore to a knee injury round 23 and I have a complete meltdown!
