I don’t get this, Brown was only ever good at one role for us. The third key forward/ruck. He was bog average everywhere else.

Wrong Brown mate.........he is talking about our 1990 Premiership Hero.

Mumford still beat Grundy in the prelim when it mattered.
Beat is probably the wrong term to use given their respective stats. ‘Nullified his influence despite Grundy’s dominance’ would be a better way to put it.

No I’m pretty sure he’s talking 2010 premiership Brown. And he was right, Brown did play more as a multi positional KPP utility rather than just being a pure forward/ruck.

By beat I’m just talking about the one instance in ruck dual in the goal square in the dying minutes. For the rest of I agree.

That’s fine but Mayne’s role is counter productive. There are are players who can play a more useful role.

Every team needs balance. Blokes like Mayne cover over the defensive deficiencies of some of their team mates which in turn allows those players to offer their offensive flair.

By "bog average" do you mean that he executed his role sufficiently to offset the absence of whoever he was replacing thereby enabling us more often than not to get a win?

LeRoy was a key ingredient in our last flag win and some people just can't stand it lol.

He was nothing more than a good ordinary player, but he played his role, and his aggression was something the team needed.

No he didn't, grundy killed him for 3 quaters but in the last quater, GWS worked out that grundy was tapping the ball to his feet, all Mumford did was protect the immediate area around the ball ups to allow their midfield to get the ball first, watch the last quater again

Seen Grundy do that less this Season.

Then we where all over them in the Last Qtr and Should of Won IF we kicked better for goal

If we had've won last year's preliminary final, many would've looked at Grundy's game as one of the best by a ruck in a finals game, ever.

We haven't beat them in a normal game since 2016 when jesse white, josh smith and ben sinclair were playing..

Time to even the score.

We should've beaten them in 2017(?) except Blair slid with his knees and then Stevie J roved a pack for an easy goal.

Still burns, that one.

PS how many times did they beat us before this game? 😉

Not too sure those early wins are overly relevant. The more salient point is that they've won 4 of the last 5 matches between us.

Yeah, given how young they were in the early days. But in recent history, no doubt they have the wood over us.
