Any news on whether Langdon requires surgery?

The AFL injury list was saying 3 or 4 weeks from memory. I also recall hearing he was due to see a specialist soon. I suspect they'll review his recovery in the coming couple of weeks and determine whether surgery is needed.

Given our history with this sort of thing, I fully expect him to need surgery and then sit the rest of the year out.

By no means celebrating an injury but that's good news considering we'll still be without Adams.

Tim English had his career best game last night. Wonder if he has come along at all since Grundy demolished him a month or two ago.
Kruezer still belted him in the hitouts, and I’d expect our defence to cover him floating forward better than Carlton’s could.

If we f lose this man.. I f swear man.. I will get out of my sound proof corporate box and scream out.. 'oh my God'.. so it can be taken out of context by security and be interpreted as blasphemy.. so I can get f ejected.. or some s**t like that.

I have f had it man.. that's it for me.

If we f lose this man.. I kid you not man.. I'm applying for a job as security at the G.. so I can ask patrons.. 'what are you wearing man.. ha.. what's that mate.. Lynx Africa.. really.. ok get the f out now.'

I have had it up to my eyeballs with this s**t man.. that's it for me.

Not against resting players, as the season progresses, we have already done it with billy and Darcy to some extent. It makes sense. Geelong did it in 2011 and watch them do it this year.
It’s a long season and Grundy, Pendles and Steele carry a large load. We have to make sure they are in the best shape possible come finals
I think not resting players cost us in 2011 so I’d be happy if the club took a cautious approach this time around.

Especially since its been a season and a half since we played Hawthorn last year. Will have played the tigers 4 times in that period, with a 5th time coming a couple weeks after the Hawthorn game.
Money management by Gill and the henchmen.

As an aside how many times have the losing side kicked the first 2 goals, since they started the 'pay em out early" promo?

How many winning players or sides have taken that bet by letting in two goals??

The AFL aligning itself with gambling companies is a disgrace and it should be banned.

if Geelong don’t **** the bed there is no tangible difference between finishing 2nd and 4th so there’s no need to press for top 2 if players are 50/50 which Grundy clearly was on the weekend.
WTF?

Finish 2nd and it looks like a home final against a travelling opponent in any of GWS, WCE or even Adelaide. That is a fair difference between facing Geelong.

And more importantly is what it means for following finals, why would you want Geelong week1, as if we lost it then means the long way home and a potential PF in Perth, Sydney or Adelaide.

We should be gunning for second, and get the week off in finals, much more important that guys like Grundy and Pendles are rested then compared to June.

We didn’t have that luxury in 2018, the Eagles did...by virtue of finishing 2nd and winning their first final.

I'm with Scodog. Would be happy to play our first final at the MCG against the Cats. Just do not want to travel. I don't think much separates the teams and if Geelong are too good, it ain't our year anyway.

Would you rather play our 1st final against Geelong at the MCG or against GWS/Adelaide at the MCG?

Have I missed something here? In order to win the premiership we’ll need to beat Geelong at some point so week 1, week 3 or week 4 there is no tangible difference and god help us if we’re already pondering who we’re likely to play in week 3. By the by what does this rant of yours have to do with pre-match discussion?

You flagging there is no difference between 2nd through 4th, so preference would be to rest players along the journey and potentially miss 2nd spot on the ladder.

I think that is a nonsense.

Much better to finish 1st or 2nd, get the easiest possible final in week 1 and then give the entire team a rest for week 2 of the finals.

So in terms of discussion about ‘resting’ Grundy in R14, much better to play him now and try to put us in the best position possible to get a rest in week 2 of finals.

I can't see Greenwood being dropped anytime soon. With his current form I'd say he's pretty much cemented his spot. Aish probably not far behind either.
I've been very impressed with Greenwood recently. I too think he's cemented in our back 7. He's a good size to play as that small/med defender who lines up across half back.

Selection will be bloody interesting if Langdon gets fit and Shaz slays them in the VFL.
If they are both fit we'll have 9 defenders who have played a lot of AFL footy and performed well. Need 7 defenders in the team every week, so 2 don't make the cut

Langdon 190cm
Scharenberg 191cm
Aish 183cm
Greenwood 181cm
Roughead 200cm
Crisp 190cm
Moore 203cm
Maynard 189cm
Howe 190cm

Need to find the right balance

fwiw I have Aish and Shaz OUT
