Were you watching on the TV or live? Because if you were at the ground you wouldn't be saying he holds his spot. Mason wood is 10 times the footballer McMillan is. He played loose on the wing tonight and still couldn't impact the game.
I watched this one at home (broke my heart) however I maintain that he played well. Mason Wood has potential and will play a whole lot of games, just not at the expense of JMac.

Out: Brown (inj), Atley, Wood
In: Daw, Dumont, someone (Waite if suspended, not sure otherwise)

If Brown is out, Daw is in. We have to have a genuine second ruck against Sandy. And I liked how Goldy and Daw double teamed Sandy last year.

Waite should be fine, but I want Wood back in. I'd even be tempted to give Waite the week off anyway. Freo's defence is pretty damn tight, playing them is never a happy day for big forwards. Whereas we're going to need Wood's ability to run all day and become an extra midfielder. He needs to play.

The other question is Atley v Dumont...Atley needs to go back to the magoos methinks, but his run and carry might be important on a big ground like Subi. There's a temptation to back him in and see if he can turn it around over there. Plus he can defend and has the experience edge. However we're playing Freo who will make it tight and tough no matter what, which is more a game that suits Dumont's style, he's in better form and deserves the chance. There's a risk playing a kid in a cauldron against the best team going around at the moment, but I'm leaning towards what Dumont has to offer.

Waite wont get done for that no way, u could see his response after it happened as well he went for the ball nust under hit it

i dont know about you blokes but McDonald looks a yard to slow and dissapointing

my changes would be

McDonald Out and Wood In

Those who are deriding McDonald's game didn't focus enough on the crucial one on ones he won.

I've been critical of him for his wayward disposal, and that still needs to be fixed up, but he was more than solid in the clinches tonight.
This. He's a second year player and he's already one of our best one on one players. He just very rarely gets beaten in a one-on-one contest, which is remarkable when you consider some of the players he beats. His kicking is a serious concern but hopefully with experience that will get better. I would be dropping Atley before McDonald; he just seems off his game at the moment and hopefully a few games in the 2's would encourage him to take his game to the next level. I doubt Scott would drop Atley for one of Wood or Dumont for the trip to Perth though.

Out: Gibson, MacMillan, Brown (inj)
In: Dumont, Wood, Turner

FB: Jacobs - Tarrant - Hansen
HB: Wright - Petrie - Firitto
C: Atley - Thompson - McDonald
HF: Harvey - Wood - Thomas
FF: Ziebell - Waite - Higgins
R: Goldstein - Swallow - Dumont
I/C: Cunnington - Bastinac - Turner - Nahas

Thompson to go with Mundy/Fyfe.

No way MacMillan goes out, coaching staff clearly want him in the side long-term They'll give him consecutive games.
I'd been unsure on Jacobs' composure, but showed real courage going back with the flight, been better than Atley.

Out: Waite (I think they'll give him a week, ball hadn't arrived yet, was clumsy)
Atley (Didn't do a lot as sub, form hasn't been great)
In: Black/Majak (Personally Black might be better dealing with Freo's structure)
Wood/Dumont

Out: Waite (I think they'll give him a week, ball hadn't arrived yet, was clumsy)

I don't understand what you mean by that. Can you please explain?

Lol ridiculous. Our greatest chance of breaking through the best defence in the comp will be a a 6 game player rather than a 150+ veteran?

This is exactly the game Waite was recruited to help us win.

Hahahahahahahahahahahagagahaha
Please stop, it is actually starting to become so funny that it hurts.

Ziebell is the only one who comes close to MacMillan when it comes to on-field leadership. They are the most vocal setting up defensive structures by a country mile.

I love Luke's endeavour but he has got to fix up his disposal and decision making.

If Brown is out it has to be Daw for mine. Goldy needs a chop-out against Freo. Petrie's one and only centre bounce contest resulted in a clean clearance and a goal to them; Goldy had to come straight back on.

Cheers. I was working through the first half, so will watch that tomorrow. Second half though, he was very good, as he has been for the past few weeks of the year. Actually, he hasnt had a bad game. Has some issues, but so do all the players on our team!! If Dal and Wells come back, then I would think that several players are then under the pump. Namely, those guys who cant hit targets. Gibson for mine, is one to be looked at, as is Bastinac, and several others. Im sure Jacobs would also be in the mix, BUT, if he keeps doing what he is doing, then he jumps ahead of a few too!
If Gibson wasn't dropped before last night, he certainly won't after being in the top half dozen for us.

Bastinac had his best game for eons.

Out; Brown (inj) Atley
In; Wood Daw

If Brown injured bring in Daw to assist Goldstein against Freo and Sandi, Wood to replace Atley who needs to find form in the VFL and Wood comes straight in after a rest.

I thought Jacobs and Macmillan were both ordinary, be happy to bring Dumont in for either but that is very unlikely. Basti had a great game so he cemented his spot for mine.

Gibson did some shocking things (as usual by foot), but also some crucial things so for mine he deserves to stay.
