Fullerton is s* but we need one of him, Johnson or JVR playing to ruck relief. So he probably gets another game. I like the May for Turner and McVee for Sharp suggestions. I wonder how Fritta would have gone against Freo. More free flowing, more space to work in. Anyway, I reckon he and JVR need to bang the door down to get back in. Wouldn't be surprised to see Fritta straight back in.
Having postponed the sacking for one more week, I think Simon will go for stabilidy and keep the forward setup unchanged. One forced change in the backline will be all we will see.
Tough luck for Laurie and Sestan.

Keep Fullarton in imo. Every time we play Richmond one of our plodder forwards teases us and turns into Wayne Carey for a night. This year is Fullarton's turn.

B: Salem Adams Bowey
HB: Mcvee. Tmac. Lindsey
C: Langdon Rivers Windsor
HF: Chandler. Fullarton. Tholstrup
F: Pickett. Petty. Spargo
R: Gawn. Petracca. Viney

I/C Langford Oliver Fritsch Sharp

Sub Melksham

May for Adams if fit.
Fritsch only plays because if Petty needs to go back.
Would be happy to see Oliver out of the team but don’t see who comes in for him.
Is Jefferson ready to come?
may as well drop petracca and Gawn if you're dropping Oliver. one of our best players all year. nuts

He's been finding the footy but having little impact. I don't agree with dropping him though. Watching the replay, i thought he had a great first half. Committed to the contest and finding players in space. More of that please. Viney as well had his best game this year by a mile.

He's obviously not back to his best but he's one of the best clearance players in the league (11th) and his disposal efficiency is at healthy levels. There's a reason why he's the first tagged.

Setterfield against Essendon. Full game too.

Petracca hasn't been tagged.
Petracca was tagged in round 1 by Bedford who could barely touch him.

Our first tagged player, provides 1 game as proof. :tearsofjoy: And the mighty Will Setterfield no less. When I think of all time great taggers Setterfield is who I think of first.

Oliver had some dreadful moments against Freo. He got it a bit and he is still good at getting first hands on the ball, but he gave up at least a couple of goals through poor decisions/handballs. He also put teammates under immediate pressure with some of his reflex handballs.

At least he wasn’t dump blasting too many kicks into orbit like he had been this season and last season.

He was going at a 2 kick to 3 handball ratio so far in 2025 prior to the Freo game. Against Freo he went 1 kick to 4 handball ratio (5/20) and gained only 81 metres. That suggests he was instructed by the coaches to kick less and try to bring teammates into it more. So a tick for altering his game I guess.

He’s still very good at some things and he doesn’t have realistic competition that could do a comparable job at actually getting first touch and generating clearance, but his effectiveness is just not where it should be given we all know what he’s capable of.

For changes I think Sharp needs to go back to the VFL for sure. He had a half game and played high minutes in the second half for three disposals and three tackles. I’d probably bring Kynan Brown or Laurie in for their tackling pressure.

Like most I’d keep Fullarton in for structure and his hard leading and that would also to save Petty from relief rucking. JVR and Fritsch did nothing to warrant recall IMO.

Richmond are running a forward line that has Lynch and then inexperienced tall Faull and ineffective tall and second ruck Ryan. McVee should come in for Turner and then if May is fit he comes in for Howes. The backline is a little undersized if May isn’t available but aside from Lynch their talls aren’t that threatening and when Richmond have scored it’s mostly been their smaller players and mids pushing forward. So ground level players are important.

To be fair, I was the one saying all pre-season that he is nowhere near his best. He is performing at a much improved level and that's great. He laid some big tackles against freo that really stuck. And was hard at the ball like usual getting some pivotal frees to start the 4th.
