I get the feeling one of JVR Or fritsch do come back this Thursday and Fullarton goes out.

If May doesn’t play we’d either have to try Adams or Petty has to go back..
I can’t see what else they do if May doesn’t play

Richmond would be insane to try play him then sub him, get an injury in the first quarter and you're stuffed.
How much would Balta be sweating if one of his teammates went down early.

Goody said McVee will be back this week and May is looking positive.

McVee will be important for Tiges dangerous smalls.

Agree that the run with role is perfect for Viney and one he has thrived in before. Taranto is probably next up to be tagged but he's not overly damaging.

Sounds like it will be Turner and Howes for May and McVee

If we want to win, the more ball Taranto gets, the better. Just about the worst kick I've ever seen, and I used to watch Dan Nicholson play footy.

Just on that, his kicking efficiency rankings over the three years since he joined Richmond (of players that played 5+ games):

2025: 321st (out of 339 players)
2024: 534th (out of 559 players)
2023: 549th (out of 558 players)

Always amazed when people refer to him as a gun of the comp. He's a worse Oliver

Wheelo have just added kick retention and kick threat, as well as expected ratings for those. Way better than kicking efficiency, which, like disposal efficiency, is a flawed stat due to the parameters.

And yes, be prepared for them to be added to the Nev stats stable along with expected score. 💻

Gawn being ahead of anyone is a bit :$

Tracs kicking has been horrific this year, his ball drop has somehow gotten worse.
Gawn's switch on Saturday was heart in mouth stuff.

Goodwin needs to tell Petracca that he doesn't have to be the man all the time.

What's the difference between kick efficiency and kick retention?
Efficiency is a bit flawed because there's situations like kicking to a 2 on 1 but not retaining the ball that are an "efficient kick", or things like kicking it a certain distance etc.

Directly from Wheelo:

Kick Rating

Kick ratings have been developed bycrow_data_sigh.Retention is how likely a kick is to be retained by a teammate.Threat is how likely a kick is to result in a shot at goal laterin the chain.

  • xThreat / Kick: average expected threat per kick.
  • Threat Rating: a measure of how often a player’s kicks result ina shot at goal later in the chain compared to expectation.
  • xThreat / Kick: average expected retention per kick.
  • Retention Rating: a measure of how often a player’s kicks areretained by a teammate compared to expectation.

To clarify, when I say "ahead" I mean higher in the list - So, worse than Oliver... Not confusing at all how I posted that...

Not getting the Fullerton drop calls, he didn't do a lot stat wise but I had pretty low expectations so maybe that helped.

I thought he competed pretty well in the air and got on the lead with intent. His height made him a tricky matchup for Freo at times, which we haven't had with JVR, Johnson or Turner forward due to their middling size.

The big suprise for me was that he had some really nice taps to our advantage in the ruck, against Omac I know but still. Giving Gawn a proper chop out and allowing us to hold our forward structure is worth keeping him in.

Turner for May, Sharp for McVee. Put Windsor in the ****ing middle Simon.
Do we think that persisting with Windsor in the backline is in part to try and improve his kicking? He's already one of our worst and that's with the less pressure of being at half back as opposed to being the middle. I've been keen on him in the middle too, but combining his poor kicking with Oliver, Viney, Trac and Gawn, who are all also terrible kicks might not be our best go? He's a receiver, not an extractor, so it would magnify it even more.
