I would have preferred to debut Lynch but have no negative emotions towards Reid.
On what logic? Lynch is an inferior player, especially as a forward.I would have preferred to debut Lynch but have no negative emotions towards Reid.

Are we talking about Ben Reid, who used to play for Collingwood - when we were a vastly different team?
Lovely guy, AA premiership defender and all that, and I more than wish him well - in fact we're desperate for him to perform well in Cox's absence. But I'd rather give young Lynch a game. Come to think of it, he'll probably be an emergency.

Win this one and we have easier games coming up, quite possible to win the next 4 after this. That puts us right in the frame.Agreed.
On the logic that Lynch is our future and Reid is our past. With Lynch in we'd have more then another personal to cover for Cox. It's not like we are desperate. If we were desperate then that is when Reid should come in. Reid isn't a part of our future plan. It would have been a great time to debut Lynch.
I would prefer we put the strongest team possible on the park. This is not a development season, we’re in our window. We put the team on the park that gives us the best chance to win.Are we talking about Ben Reid, who used to play for Collingwood - when we were a vastly different team?

As above, we are in our premiership window, we aren’t planning for the future with team selection this year, we’re playing for the now. We put the strongest team on the park, period. Anyone who thinks our forward line will be stronger with Lynch as the tallest target is kidding themselves.Agreed.

Its the wrong game, because their ruckman are in form, but I'd be pretty happy with Grundy getting a couple of lighter weeks playing forward/second ruck, with Lynch getting a taste as first ruck.I would have preferred to debut Lynch but have no negative emotions towards Reid.
We will win by 8 goals. Reid, Elliott, will and Degoey will kick 14 goals between them.
Have a good feeling about his one. We played pretty bad last week after half time. Expect us to come out and smash them.
I was supremely confident until I saw Reid picked

But that's the thing. Reid doesn't guarantee anything. Sure he has more experience than Lynch, but we can still be in our premiership window whilst contributing to our future. It's what great clubs do. Reid is a "break glass in case of emergency" player. Cox injured isn't an emergency. I rather see it as an opportunity to contribute to our future by blooding another talented kid.

I’m sorry, I thought we were aiming for a premiership this year. I didn’t realise we could afford to significantly weaken our side and potentially drop games in the name of developing the kids. But that's the thing. Reid doesn't guarantee anything. I;m convinced on Cox, but not hysterical. I'm really looking forward to see how Ben Reid goes.No hysteria around Cox not playing, are we still not convinced?

Any other year I’d agree with this sentiment but we’re challenging this year. We can’t afford to drop points becuase we want to develop players. Are we talking about Ben Reid, who used to play for Collingwood - when we were a vastly different team?

Bringing in a debutant who would be playing out of position, over an experienced player who’s also in very good form in the VFL, playing the same position. Seriously....That's what I said in my post.
Our side is already weakened with cox out. Bringing in Lynch for Cox doesn't make it any weaker.
... and add young Sier.
