I said before the season started that if Reid plays a game this year, it confirms we’re tanking and have written off our season.

Can’t go back on my word now.

Gonna put a sneaky 50 on Port I think. Great value at 3.50 with collingwood playing with 17 men.

He took 12 marks on the weekend. He might not be that bad.

Time will tell how Reid goes Friday night. But, don't surprised folks if he "can't keep up with the game" so to speak. Was a great servant for us, but I'm afraid senior AFL has passed him. Prove me wrong Reid and please do because Port are going to be a tough challenge.

On Reid, what is a pass mark for Friday? 1 goal? 2 goals?

Pass mark if he creates a contest that allows us to win.

But that's the thing. Reid doesn't guarantee anything. Sure he has more experience than Lynch, but we can still be in our premiership window whilst contributing to our future. It's what great clubs do. Reid is a "break glass in case of emergency" player. Cox injured isn't an emergency. I rather see it as an opportunity to contribute to our future by blooding another talented kid.

Nah -- you have to reward performances in the VFL. Reid has been best for about a month. Otherwise you're sowing bitterness.

Could we suffer block buster fatigue? Treloar said Anzac was intense.
Also our record against away teams at Docklands is not great. And I worry about their ability to dominate the clearances early.

Great backup option as it gives us flexibility, forward and back. He will probably break down during the 2nd quarter though

Jeeze some of you have bloody short memories - this time last year we were sitting 12th and in desperate trouble.

Those of us with a sense of proportion and some modicum of patience realize this team is steadily building.

Some of you have the attention span of a goldfish and the common sense of a dalmation.

Look you are probably right in saying we are steadily building, but you haven't always been overflowing with positivity yourself at times this year jonbe. You're right about Dalmatians though. They are dumb dogs.

If he's a like-for-like replacement then 2 goals - Cox generally kicks 1 or 2 per game. If he also gets 2-3 score involvements and applies 5-6 tackles then he's performing his role beautifully

The inclusion of Ben Reid is a no-brainer in the absence of Cox. Reid has been our best performed at VFL level, and has also been doing some ruck minutes. So i think we are very fortunate to have such a good backup option.

If we are relying on Reid to play 22 games, then we have problems. But to come in as a pinch-hitter, he should do a great job.

In terms of ruck, we may need to also consider Jordan Roughead to take some minutes, even if that means Reid covers down back for a bit. But Reid should be able to hold up for 10% ruck minutes anyway

He's been the form player in the VFL so Reid in is the logical call. I think he'll be fine although I do worry about his ability to negate Ryder and Lycett. They'll trouble even top line ruckmen so all he has to do is minimize any damage when Grundy is taking a rest.

Same as with every player. He plays his role and contributes to what hopefully is a win.

Yeah I wish we had a swathe of injuries to stars. It really sucks that we're close to fully fit, Bodes badly. Don't worry though, Hi Jinx is on the case, he'll conjure uo a few injuries to make you happier.
