Brisbane played Tunstill at half forward, he did get subbed but if he plays then thats who Mcvee will play on, not charlie. Thats a recipe for disaster. Unless Mcvee has some rare way completely changed his game, he is a rebounding defender with smart decision making and ball use. Not a shutdown player.

At best he plays on Linc McCarthy or Zac Bailey as he gets higher

Im expecting Rivers and I honestly think it could be a taller option like May on him if hes starting out of the goal square. Not sure Petty has enough agility/speed but also an option

Zac Bailey is an absolute gun. Will be a danger match up whoever gets him.
From memory he almost single-handedly kept them in it for the first half one of the games last year we ended up flogging them?

2021 at Giants stadium. Killed us in the first half.

one option we have is to bring in Hibberd as the sub. back in the kids to get the job done but have a safety back up option just in case. someone like Rivers or Brayshaw can always push up the ground to cover the midfield if needed.

It's not a bad idea. If we sub out a midfielder Rivers or Brayshaw can push up into those roles. If it's a forward and Hibberd goes on there's a range of options of people you can swing forward out of defence or midfield.

yeah with dual role players forward and back i think it allows you to use the sub to try and combat a perceived oppo strength, or even exploit a weakness.

Salem needs a week at Casey at the leaset to show how hungry he actually is. Had a very poor 2022 and shouldn't be a walk up start anymore with McVee, Rivers and Bowey in the same role.

May, Viney, Fritsch in
Tomlinson, Laurine, Kozzy out

Match Ups:
Petty---> Hipwood
May ---> Daniher
Lever ---> Gunston
McVee ---> Cameron

I think we should have plenty of shots on goal against the Lions back half, they are terrible atm

We'd be the only club in the AFL picking 32 year old subs. Don't think Pig adds enough off the bench especially if we need to sub out a forward who's struggling

If we do what we should and smash Brisbane out of the middle then it won't matter who we play on Cameron. Not sure I like many people as a match up on him if they are getting consistent quality forward entries.

I've kept my beady little eyes on him ever since he destroyed us in that 2021 game but I don't think he's really kicked off from then. I thought he'd turn into a superstar but he's been like the rest of the Brisbane Lions... a flake.

We need to "respect the opposition" as Goodwin would say but he's as much chance of having a big game as Joey Big D Danniher IMO.

Some on here talking up McVee like he's the second coming of Andy Macleod!! I like the kid, but let's calm the farm. I hope he stays in the team, but we'd be crazy to put him on Charlie Cameron. Might get a stint on him, but look what happened when we put Joel Smith on him in a final. And id say Joel has better attributes than McVee to play on Charlie. May could get first crack, and Bowey and Riv are equipped also.
McVee and Smith are, in many ways, complete opposites. Smith is an athlete playing football, McVee is a footballer who has had to build his tank/fitness base. Cameron is an incredibly intelligent forward who can play as small or tall as he likes, much like Jamie Elliott but with more leg speed. Smith had no idea how to read or follow him because, as stated, he's never been a natural footballer. Obviously Smith was free, and the son of a gun, and has done some good things, but he's a guy with attributes that Barry Prendegast would have spaffed over and that's the take home message.

See wish players said this while they were playing could make the game far more interesting.
That everyone was frothing over Langdon's incredibly tame "all duck no dinner" comment shows how desperate people are for some genuine sledging.
