Can you play Brown, TMac and JVR in the same side?

Goody: Yep, you sure can.

It doesnt get more depressing than this.
Yeah let's play 3 marking talls so we can not use Fritsch as a marking tall because he's shit at that.

Basically 4 on 6 when we turn the ball over in F50 with Brown and TMac down there. Petty was shit last week but at least he can tackle.

5 on 6 before we turn it over aswell seeing as Brown can't mark this year

Hopefully the F50 is a dysfunctional mess this week and we lose because of it, would be the best result for us moving forward. Make Stubborn Simon wake up to himself.
Kinda with this too hope we get 60 inside 50s and kick 8.12 and lose by 10 points. The absolute need to force Brown and Tmac into the side could cost us a flag this year.

Carn the Bombers. :D

RoboGoody3000 sees the heavy rain forecast, so he brings in 2023's apex crumbing forward

Melt harder nerds

BBB is our premier crumber. He's gonna kick 4 goals in the driving rain.

Charlie Spargo doesnt like him and said hes not welcome in the small forward gang.

They add an extra round but almost none of the games are actual double ups for any of the sides. You'd be pissed if you had Essendon mates you went with every year.
Been going with my best mate who's Essendon every year since we were 13, and every year we have a dust up afterwards. Its a ****ing shit idea by the AFL.

So Hibberd out for sure, and if they continue to be conservative with injuries like they claimed they were last week with Brown then you'd think they rest Lever too. Interesting that Brown didn't run around for at least a half for Casey if as Goodwin said he could've played against West Coast but they claimed they were being cautious due to the air travel. Doesn't quite stack up to me.

They stuck with their number of talls team structure last week against West Coast with Brown out for McDonald, but it is meant to be wet conditions and Essendon will be short in their forward line with no Wright or Weideman. Stringer doesn't play tall, and they will be left with options like the underwhelming Jones, first gamer Voss, undersized swingman Langford and resting rucks like Draper or Phillips as their forwards.

If like they did against the Eagles they just stick with the same team structure, I think it will be Tomlinson and Brown in for Hibberd and Lever. Brown to take Petty's forward role, Petty to move into the backline along with Tomlinson. Sub will be Jordon.

Personally I think that's way too tall for the likely conditions and the opposition.

What I would prefer it to be is Hibberd and Lever out, D.Turner and Jordon into the starting 22. Sub should be Laurie as he is in good form, gives a midfield or forward option, and played well in wet weather last year for Casey. I wouldn't be shocked to see Melksham back as a sub. I'd have Petty move into the backline with D.Turner, and play with a shorter forward line setup given the predicted conditions.

Surely if the forecast is rain we'll decide on the day to pull out Brown even if he is selected. On the downside, if Goody does that he'll probably put Melk in his spot.

If Brown plays and Petty goes back this week because Lever and Hibberd are out, I don't think it says much about what Goody thinks our best side is. Clearly two talls are going to get dropped once Lever and Gawn are fit again and the most likely suspects are TMac and Brown as soon as they have bad games.

Goody is often slow to make changes but once he plays a young player he usually sticks with them. I don't think JVR will get dropped unless he struggles big time for 2-3 weeks in a row. At least I hope that's the case

Don't want Brown in but a few overreactions from Goodwin basically just saying he's available to play.

If Lever is out I reckon he will be named at least, that's pretty consistent with Goody's MO to make sure we have 3 talls forward.

Regardless of what team he picks this week though, it doesn't mean his three preferred talls up forward when we're full strength won't be JVR/Petty/Gawn.

If they stick to the three tall forwards plus Fritsch setup - and Goodwin almost bristled at the press conference when it was questioned if the three tall setup would work which suggests he's pretty set on it - I just hope the selection philosophy is to play the two tall forwards who offer the most along with a resting Gawn/Grundy. Doesn't matter what their name is or what their past deeds are. By offer the most I mean a combination of recent form, physical traits and game style.

I'm confident Brown and TMac over a prolonged period would likely contribute more goals off their own boot than van Rooyen. But does van Rooyen's contest he provides in the air and on the ground, which to me is clearly superior to Brown and TMac's contest, provide more value overall to the team than an extra goal off the boot?

I suspect JVR will struggle big time at some point and will need to be rested or dropped back to VFL for a bit of a breather. He's a competitive and physical player. For the first time he's consistently crashing into bigger, stronger and faster opponents week after week after week. That's got to take a toll on a 19 year old's body.

As they say in the classics, it's a good problem to have when there are seemingly too many options.

Just like the Gawn injury though, and their age and Brown's knee and TMac's foot, I think some more injuries to the tall forwards as the year goes on are inevitable. I'm sure they will also look to rest all of Brown, Tmac and JVR at times as part of injury and load management too. They will all get their chances.
