Agreed - but up against the reigning premier is a tough ask for any team at any point.

What is the pass mark here?
Well i guess we'd at least like it to be a contest up until the final siren. But for the first time this year (by my reckoning) this is the first game where we go into the game and don't have any excuses (most of which were our own doing to be fair). Will be interesting to see how it pans out.

If Port is serious about fighting for finals, there's no excuse not to win this game.

Brisbane are flat coming off 3 losses and a bye. Port simply must win to have any chance of postponing their September Bali trips. After another loss, the word 'mathematically' joins the equation, which means it's all over.

The stage is set and Port should be fired up. Which means.....they won't be and we can bank on a 70 point loss and playing Brisbane back into winning form.

Port to go on a magical run and win EVERY game from here on out.:smirk:

Prior to the bye they destroyed the Cats at Kardinia Pk , they are rested and at home, winning this would be highly unlikely at the best of times.

Definitely a tough assignment up there.

I reckon they've got the wood on us for the last 5 to 10 games at the Gabba as well.

They're also a veteran team with hard bodies and a good structure.

If they had Daniher, they'd probably been faves to win it all.

Wines back this week?

Reading some of the Joe Richards comments my opinion of him.

Nice player who does most things right is the perfect 20/21/22 player on a real contender stacked with talent.

Drew is having a really poor year by his standard.
Coaching conundrum to keep selecting in hope he turns that form as his good is very valuable to the side or send him back to the SANFL to find that form.
I’m more inclined to keep him in rather than send back to let’s face it the Magpies which is Siberia.

It's going to be an interesting selection.
If Lukosius & Wines both in, two need to go out.
I'm thinking Evans & Liddy out, Boak sub (to get another game to his total - which the club is working on each week).
If Hugh Jackson is emergency or sub again after the game he had Thursday night.... I'll dunno.
I think the club needs to start looking at main-stayers like SPP & Drew & select the kids over them if they're not performing as well as they should be!

I definitely wouldn't go the 3 talls against Brisbane. They'll eat us up. Visentini and Evans out, Luko and Wines in. Jackson sub ONLY because I don't think he's currently got a tank to go over 2 quarters at high standards. Liddy is the other option for sub but feel like he plays at more consistent level for 4 quarters (although not at the high standard of Jackson that he showed last week).

Dunno how Jackson gets to build his tank to 4x quarters, if not given the opportunity others have.

Is it just my cynical nature, or do the Non-Vic clubs always seem to line up another Non-Vic club after a bye, whereas the Vic clubs fresh off a bye usually get to feast on the carcass of a spent Non-Vic club?

By my calculations Port have now played Collingwood, Hawthorn and Brisbane at 'inopportune' (read - rigged) times, yet got to come at GWS (i.e. not a Vic club) from the long run post-bye.
