Sounds like a defeated mentality. We are the better side. They finally beat us last year after a run of about 3 years of complete dominance our way.

This will show us where we are at, good sides win with injuries. Im keeping the faith in the players. It’s been one really disappointing 3 qtrs so far but the rest of the year has been solid without being great.
…they’ve beaten us three times since the start of 2022, and we only just got out of jail in the second Showdown of 2021 when the Crows were at their lowest ebb. Not sure where this “years of dominance” thing comes from.

Yea they’re running at 3 of the last 4 I thought the same thing rain hail or shine the Camries own us

We let Taylor Walker win a medal and something called a Gollant kick 5 farking goals

Showdowns are like top 4 clashes or finals or prime time games at AO the intensity goes up and we don’t turn up

Honestly we have our 2 obligatory loses coming up Away showdown and Geelong at the cheat ground hopefully that turns the screws on Daddy now the media have a whiff of his stench

we have lost the last 2 showdowns, we have 3 of our most important players out, its a crows home showdown and they will want to win for sloane, plus win/loss record doesnt mean anything in a showdown.

The last showdown we didn’t have Dixon, georgiades or Rioli and Finlayson kicked 1.4 and Marshall end of season decline had begun. We somehow had 65 inside 50’s and could only manage 9 goals and 4 of them came from Frankie Evans. We had illness and were banged up from the brutal Collingwood clash.

And tbh we didn’t have allir either, he went back on but he wasn’t right and Tex had a field day on him.

So I’d say we are in a better position to win this showdown despite a few out and crows aren’t as good as what they were last year.

Our forward line is much more potent so if we get 65 inside 50’s again we’ll be fine. We were basically missing our 3 most dangerous forwards, and Marshall and finlayson were physically and mentally cooked.

Its a sad site on this thread when the Crom have half of you guys shaking in your boots.

I get it tho, after years of being beaten down in the Hinkley era, you just start to accept the worse.

I feel this is a huge sliding doors moment for the season. Win and you go to 6-2, finals pretty much locked in and a chance at top 4.

I'll be keeping an eye on:

Butters as captain
Mead moving up the pecking order in the midfield
Jase and Lachie continuing their form
I would prefer not to see Burton and McEntee in the 23
Sweet getting a good run at it
Dixon kicking straight
The form of Todd and Mitch
Will Bergman go back or will we bring in one of Burton, McKenzie or Clurey?

There's no doubt the Rory Sloane retirement was timed for this week for the run through the walls factor & of course we'll roll out like we are playing South @ Car Toot Park.

Not shaking in my boots, I literally don't care.

When the anger turns to apathy, you've got big problems.

Excuse the intrusion but come on Port!!

This is another one of those big stage games that normally catch the Power out but surely the wheel must turn? I'm trusting it's this round with a few big outs. No better time for the soul to be found and to come out fighting. The wheel turns this week!

These are the results of Hinkley's tenure as head coach of Port, bearing in mind that less than 86 points conceded is considered a premiership defence:

Matthew Nicks is defence coach.

Round 3, 2013 - win 118-109
Round 19, 2013 - win 107-103

Phil Walsh is appointed midfield coach.

Round 2, 2014 - win 127-73
Round 15, 2014 - lost 76-99

Phil Walsh appointed head coach of Adelaide. Voss becomes midfield coach.

Round 5, 2015 - win 115-91
Round 16, 2015 - loss 113-116

Nathan Bassett is appointed defence coach.

Round 2, 2016 - loss 86-144
Round 22, 2016 - loss 94-109

Round 3, 2017 - loss 83-100
Round 20, 2017 - loss 45-130

Round 8, 2018 - win 95-90
Round 20. 2018 - loss 93-96

At the end of 2018, Brett Montgomery is appointed defence coach.

Round 8, 2019 - loss 68-88
Round 16, 2019 - win 101-44

Round 2, 2020 - win 110-35

Round 8, 2021 - win 87-38
Round 21, 2021 - win 55-51

Montgomery shifts to midfield coach. Bassett returns to defence.

Round 3, 2022 - loss 92-96
Round 23, 2022 - win 111-55

Montgomery leaves. Carr returns as midfield coach.

Round 3, 2023 - loss 86-117
Round 20, 2023 - loss 65-112

Let's see if Goldsack is a good defence coach or not.

P.S. Montgomery is now the defensive coach of GWS. Who the heck thought it was a good idea to a) move him from defense where he was doing a good job and b) get rid of him and retain Bassett when Carr came back?

Our potent forward line is always a man short when Mac&Cheese plays; watch his man roll off and be a third contestant else where.

It's just so darned hard to put your finger on.

If only there was some common denominator that was there the whole time, publicly refused to learn and had shown through his public comments that we was threatened by others success and criticism.

Imagine this guy coaching you. He finds a lot of things scary too.
