I've been saying this for years & the club is too stupid to work it out
Then you don’t remember how it was being a Port supporter in the 70s and 80s- I dare say, the 50s and 60s too.

It was us against the rest. 9 other clubs hated us and their second favourite side was whoever was playing us. Then a corporation is spawned from that hate by those 9 clubs in 1990 just to keep us out of the AFL. Nothing recreates that more than wearing our history against that bunch that has none.

If you think wearing that guernsey means a single thing to an 18 year-old Victorian kid drafted out of Bendigo, you’re kidding yourself.

Don’t get me wrong, I love it and look forward to us wearing Saturday night.

But the days of it being a suit of armour are done. It’s purely transactional now.

Assuming we don't make finals and lack the balls to make the call, both of which look likely at this stage, these are the final pieces of shit we have to endure before the muppet finally ****s off and leaves us in peace:

Adelaide
Geelong
Freo
GWS
Melbourne
Sydney
Carlton
Brisbane
West Coast
Hawthorn
Adelaide
Geelong
Freo
Carlton
SUNS

15 to go

There are 7 teams we will already never have to watch a Hinkley-coached side compete against ever again.

You can realistically think there’s only a couple of wins there.

Geez, it's scary when you look at our draw. Be lucky to make it to 10 wins.

"Strong Club" hey Kochie???

Going to finish out of finals in both comps with no 1st round draft picks, and possibly more key players leaving because we've been so weak and 'nice' about others leaving. Tell ya what, if they start trying to sell that getting Butters and Bergman out got us some 1sts back, in a draft they told us 12 months ago they wanted no part of, I'm going to lose my mind.

I wonder if Port will ever explore SPP as an centre bounce mid again? He does have offer some physicality and bite despite his limitations.

He had some good moments in the middle today with his physicality.

You know that he will at least make the oppositions players earn their footy with his attack on the ball and tackle hard which our mids can’t seem to do.

Nah mate, pressure in the forward 50 is what dictates if a team wins or loses, none of this midfield or defensive 50 pressure stuff.

Besides its too much hard work defending more than a quarter of the ground.

I swear I read it somewhere that the club consider this year a write off and don't care where they finish

When you watch the Magpies play, it 100% looks like they are just in match practice. Theres no real desire to win.

For the AFL side to be in the same boat though is crazy. Especially with no 1st pick in hand.

To be honest, if that was the case, Boak shouldn't play again. Finlayson probably goes in the same boat. Mind you its not like we have a lot of options underneath. Other than Whitlock, BZT and Visentini, theres no one that played for the Magpies this week that has a long term AFL future ahead.

Our only chance of winning this is if Hinkley gets his feelings hurt really badly all week leading up to it.

The club need to announce that Hinkley will be sacked if we lose this game. They'll step up if the wolves are at daddy's door. Not for any other reason though.

I was thinking there could be your standard Port emotional response but there isn't any heat coming from us or the media anymore. We've all pretty much given up so their isn't the same level of anger after this belting as their has been after others, the fact Ken's on the way out at the end of this season no matter what has diluted the rage i guess but even after round 1 there was a lot more angst but its all a bit meh at the moment.

100%.

It's all been a bit meh for several seasons. We've never really been a threat of achieving anything, but the one thing that has aligned many of us is the knowledge that the clubs strategy is WRONG. Playing the stability card, sticking with Ken, was a mistake, and now they've changed that absolutely we're in this numb holding period where there's no point in rambling about the coach because he's gone.

The biggest issue for mine, and what makes this all the more numbing is that the coach change hasn't brought about the one thing that was/is required, which is a huge shake up of our footy operations and some new hope for us supporters on the outside. The fact we're going with the status quo, just under the Carr name, means that not only do we have this pointless waiting period, but the club hasn't strayed away from stability, and if Carr fails as I expect after being stuck in the Hinkley regime for too long, the club still hasn't shown the balls it could make the decision required in a couple more years. Making it feel like an infinite, frustrating period of meh, where hope is a long, long, long way off.

Honestly if we don't come out and win both this week and against Geelong here the week after the season is cooked and they need to put us out of our misery. The board needs to stop letting Hinkley survive on the back of a carefully timed win/streak and actually make a forward thinking decision.
