When you watch the Magpies play, it 100% looks like they are just in match practice. Theres no real desire to win.

For the AFL side to be in the same boat though is crazy. Especially with no 1st pick in hand.
When I hear crap from some supporters saying pre-season and early round games "don't matter", I shake my head.

Let standards slip, give up 4 points cheaply, and before you know it we are playing in dead rubbers and another year is wasted.

Port Adelaide by 5,000,000 points. Ryan Burton to kick 700. Travis Boak to have 1,500 touches. Lachie Jones to become a famous TikTokker.

To be honest, if that was the case, Boak shouldn't play again. Finlayson probably goes in the same boat. Mind you its not like we have a lot of options underneath. Other than Whitlock, BZT and Visentini, theres no one that played for the Magpies this week that has a long term AFL future ahead.

It's not surprising at all considering the succession planning.

No one is held accountable because of well Ken is leaving anyway and Carr isn't technically coach.

Our players used to at least have some spirited fightback but our 4th quarter numbers show that they offer no second wind this year.

We looked great in the Hawks game because the players were motivated in their hatred of them.

You play how you practice and train.
The lack of fight to grit it out when the heats on and /or down and failure to flog a side when you have them on the ropes says it all.

Adelaide has definitely had the wood on us since 2022 but last year they weren’t that convincing against us.

The first showdown we were awful but still had chances late to win but our goal kicking was ridiculously bad. We had 10 more inside 50’s, midfield were on top but it was one of the most wasteful games I’ve ever seen. Crows on the other hand didn’t miss. 12.6 to 5.18. Where they kicked the last 3 goals to blow it out to 30 points. I don’t think the crows were good we were just shithouse.

The second showdown the crows came In to the game in pretty good form, nearly knocked off the Geelong in Geelong, smashed the hot to trot at the time dogs so we had to play well to beat the crows and they took it up to us and it was an arm wrestle for 3/4 and then we pulled away late.

Obviously they’ve improved since then and we’ve gone backwards but it’s not like we don’t know how to compete against them.

We need to respond. I’ve got my concerns that we will but if we do I think this one will be much closer than most are predicting.

showdowns have a way of the playing field being levelled despite ladder positions. Anything is possible.

Even if this year is the write off we are all expecting now at least get up for this game like we did against the hawks.

Then you don’t remember how it was being a Port supporter in the 70s and 80s- I dare say, the 50s and 60s too.

It was us against the rest. 9 other clubs hated us and their second favourite side was whoever was playing us. Then a corporation is spawned from that hate by those 9 clubs in 1990 just to keep us out of the AFL. Nothing recreates that more than wearing our history against that bunch that has none.
I remember very well

Isn't this just fn pathetic.

"Rozee conceded not much went right for Port against the Bulldogs in Ballarat, where they conceded 18 goals to three after quarter-time.

But he wasn't dwelling on the result, insisting it's a long season.

"We've shown in the past that when we have a bad loss we're able to respond," Rozee said.

"That will be the same approach this week."

Leveling the playing field only works in the crows favor while Ken has been coach. We should have a 100% win rate over the last 7 years against them considering where the teams have been at.
The fact is that win for Daddy vibes can't help when there isn't an expectation to win or a team that brings early pressure
