How shits bzt been in the magoos? Surely he can play on walkers corpse.
He was good again, taking a number of good marks. But I can only see Marshall as the only one coming in.

I’m more concerned we might end up with eleni umpiring.

After her Stella performance in Vic.. she will be sent back to only umpire port games
This is legitimately my biggest concern this week.
If she's umpiring I reckon it's worth 3 or 4 goals the Crows way

Didn't Carr (or one of the other coaches) mention that Dante as a youngster played in Defence  ???

If that is true .. would it be worth having him play on Thilthorpe (to go with him into ruck or the middle when required) - ruck man v ruck man .. and if Thilthorpe places midfield Dante follows (2 rucks in the Centre vs 2 rucks in the Centre)
this might be the move that the cows coaching team isnt expecting

have Allir on Tex ..
have Marshall as the intercept marking option (with flog out)

and as small defenders have Farrell, Bergman & Jones

Dante played all lines as a kid.

Don’t think it’s as easy as throwing him back though. We win the midfield Thilthorpe is not a big issue.

I wouldn’t be playing Tex myself, but?

Not sure who we play on Thilthorpe but in my opinion Aliir isn’t a good option.
Aliir is great if allowed to zone off etc. he’ll get killed in a one on one contest. Crows will try and isolate them and potentially have a field day with it.
Just need Butters to cannon into his leg in the first quarter.

We tried Jones as KPD during preseason. I wonder if we use him on Walker and tell him to run off him when he has the opportunity.
Marshall to Thilthorpe and allow Allir as third man up?

Interested to see who we put on Rankine. Bergman or DBJ I would think.

Since 2021 it's felt like they've really got themselves up for showdowns. And as the underdog have beat us or come far too close a few times. And then as the favourites last year absolutely had their way with us to the tune of 98 points in the wet.

That second showdown last year was a disgrace, they were treating the game like their lives depended on it and i don't think i'd ever seen us look more disinterested. It was embarrassing.

Yes we were cooked at that point and they were firing but that hasn't stopped showdowns being close in the past and that result has never been replicated the other way when we were at opposing ends of the ladder besides that covid showdown in front of an empty stadium.

They've clearly got in our heads in recent years and have had us rattled, they had absolutely no right to win 3/4 showdowns in 2023-2024, we should've won them all but only got the one when we were playing for top 2 and it took Houston knocking out Rankine to turn the game in our favour. Had that not happened we might've lost all 4.

And then they beat us twice last year. Somehow despite all of Rozee, Butters and JHF dominating we let the first showdown slip last year. plus 21 in inside 50's, nearly double the clearances (56 to 29), plus 13 in contested possession, literally every key stat we were in front in but somehow lost the game by 5 points.

It's clear they have a huge psychological edge over us. They enter showdowns full of confidence and swagger, thinking they are going to win, and we appear to always doubt ourselves against them.

I think it started in that second showdown in 2021 where we were 2nd and they were bottom 4 but somehow we were playing catch up to them all match and only just scraped across the line at the death by 4 points, and would 100% lost if it wasn't for Allir playing one of the matches of his career. Yeah we won but i feel like the crows landed far too many punches that night, and had us on the ropes for the majority of the match. It should've been a soft kill for us that night but it was far from it.

And their edge over us was cemented even further in 2022 with the Dawson after the siren goal and them owning us in 2023-2024 despite us being in the top 4 and them being in the bottom 4.

We have been pathetic in showdowns for 5 years now.

i guess after all that waffle about how shit we are in showdowns, i think the main point i want to make is i want this friday night to be the game where we finally fight back against this mob and play the game like it means more to us than them for a change.

Yeah they've got the Dawson emotion, they'll also want to respond but none of that should mean shit to us, let's not let them write the script this time. Enough is enough.

Hinkleyball was dumb football and good sides worked that out that you only needed to do a few things and we were nullified. I expect Carr to engineer a game plan that the players will execute that will not allow the Crows to win these games cheaply.

Hawthorn game showed we can now execute under pressure. Geelong game demonstrated that we can dismantle opposition tactics. If the Crows approach this Showdown like the previous ones, they are in for a rude shock.

There is also the option of bringing in BZT for Evans. As a lock down defender, he could just sit on Tex.

Then you have Allir on Thilthorpe. Marshall on their newbie tall, as an interceptor.

Then we have extra aerial support from Bergman/Jones and Farell and DBJ can play on the smalls.
I’d go as far to say that BTZ is finished at AFL level.

ISN'T IT NICE TO BE LOOKING FORWARD TO A SHOWDOWN

IN: Hope, fun and crow smashingness
OUT: Sooky, sooky la la shit

Coach can play whoever he damn well likes, just keep kicking arse.
RAWRRRRRRRRR

We are Port Adelaide (again).
We should have won the first one last year.
Kicked our chances away in the last qtr kicking 2-6 and going down by 5 points.

I think it has to be Aliir with Esava out. There's nobody else unless BZT gets a surprise call up.

Marshall playing as the zone off tall forces Aliir to play as the only proper KPD. He's still been quite influential intercepting the last few weeks, despite also taking a (often the tallest) key forward.
