Hardness comes with confidence, so to speak.

Good changes. I’ve hardly been Jmacs biggest cheerleader this year but Ahern and Taylor were the obvious outs to go with Lmac based on last week. Still only lost by a kick. I’m also very happy to see at least 2 unforced changes after a solid performance. The Scott era was riddled by indecisive selection IMO but I’ve seen already a slight rebalancing.

Looking at the VFL side there is no obvious in for JMAC unless you drop him for a mid.
Yep, Wright probably the only fit bloke who would possibly replace him, but the cupboard is more or less bare at the moment.
The backline might be a bit top-heavy then. Rhyce has been with the the club the whole year, he should have a good read.
Yeah, it's a bit of a balancing act. Shaw needs to get a look at these blokes under his instructions, keep the team competitive and do this whilst having an injury list that's getting longer by the minute.
Jonathan Brown commented during the broadcast that Hrovat was not as hard as he could have been. Either him or Turner should have been dropped IMHO. Maybe they are on display as trade prospects though.
You might be right.

Macmillan is going to be rogered by a small forward.

Apparently he's harshly judged. Yet he's never on the best small either.

He's like a poor and short man's Dustin Fletcher.

Agree with Hrovat holding his spot.

Very harsh on LDU, would prefer he was recalled after such a great showing.

Macmillan survives either through our injury list or Shaw trying to maximise our draft position.
Crocker, Wright and Murphy are only the general defenders left.

One extremely raw, one cooked and one back from injury who hasn’t been knocking down the door all year.

Jono Brown's entire segment is him going through nitpicking footage and saying people aren't as hard as him.

I can't recall Rat pulling out of any contact. I can't believe Shaw would retain his place in the side if that's the case.

I think if you play in the back 6 then you should be a good 1v1 defender for your height division. At present we have:
Tarrant: elite
Thompson: good
Williams: good
Pittard: good
Durdin: average (developing)
Daw: elite (likely out for year)
EVW: good (out for year)
McDonald: average (out for year)
Atley: average
Macmillan: below average

Macmillan has strengths outside his defending, he has been really critical for us when it comes to defensive rebounds. however, when the opposition isolate him and try and force him to defend near the last line then whatever positives we have are somewhat negated by the negatives. Same issues we have when Atley is forced to defend deep. They do not make defender-type decisions under the pump.

Even though McDonald is extremely suspect at times with the high ball going in, you can't question his commitment to go hard at the contest. I think he set the tone last week in the last quarter which helped us to get some momentum with his aggression. someone just needs to teach him how to kill a high ball because he should be better at it.

Not sure it really matters who plays the remaining of the year, probably should give mature players every chance at making the most of their career because if I was appointed coach I would be cutting back on some of the dead wood to make room for the younger guns we have who aren't getting games because we have a fair few mediocre flankers who have been around a fair while.

Nothing personal, but you just can't keep everyone. We are generally reluctant to move on mediocre players or players who haven't taken the bull by the horns, sure some come good, but we have been mired in mediocrity because too many do not. We can't be an average club that just holds on to too much dead wood because 1 in 10 comes good at the age of 27+.

the team looks very top heavy, brisbane too small and quick, big loss coming up, season finished.

That's a solid side. I would have liked to have seen ldu in, but it looks like shaw is sending a message
What's the message? That if you dish up piss poor tackles and defensive efforts that cost goals, you get to keep your spot?

I'm convinced JMac has photos of coaches or management (or coaches with management) in compromising positions.

So you'd have to think with our lack of fit defenders, that with Sammy not getting a game this week, he's unlikely to get a recall again. Unless we lose more defenders.

Sadly, he’s finished at this stage. I hope he proves me wrong.

Just curious who is your choice for our senior coach.
