Going on Goldy's effort v Zac the hack Clarke yesterday, I am not confident he can handle the infinitely better Ruckman in Stef Martin any better, maybe Tom Campbell could assist the cause.

On the face of it, that could make sense, Muttley. However, I think Goldy performs better these days against stronger opponents, for some reason. Besides, WB would never have let Tom leave if they thought he was a better ruckman than Goldy, would they?

They are the same people that are happy with Hrovat being in the team.

We have some delusional supporters with short memories.

The truth is, we’re running out of soldiers. I doubt you’ll find one person on this board that thinks Hrovat is in our best 22 - in fact, I guarantee it. However, when needed, he’s there.

Apart from his demolition of young English (on one leg) and Zaine Cordy v Bulldogs, not counting Grundy recently, which stronger opponents has he had clear victories over this year Witts, Ryder/Lycett, Bellchambers. Gawn, Mumford, Martin in Rd 2 ?

How could you not count beating Grundy?

He did have a down day but he's been excellent this year. Clarke basically spent the whole game pig rooting him and got away with murder. There was even a boundary throw in where he dragged Goldy back 2mtrs and the ball ended up hitting the turf with neither ruckman even getting a hand on it. Can't say I've seen that happen lately, if ever. Reckon he will apply himself well this week.
I think I mentioned during the game that the tackling of Goldie was sublime.

If only the rules allowed for tackling in ruck contests.

Same for Cunnington. He could have been paid a free almost every time the ball came near him.

How many free kicks were paid to those two blokes for the day?

Trouble is, these blokes don't play to the theater that the AFL has become. If they propped, dived and flapped their wings, of adopted the stringer / Dangerfield "crucifixion stance" while begging the maggot they might get their share.

Umpires play up to the crowd, and they lap up the adoration of the noisiest supporters or the biggest clubs when it comes to 50/50s.

Durdin back for LMac
LDU back in for Taylor
Hosie would make better structural sense for Hrovat if Wood isn’t available

Would love to see Crocker get a run but not sure how many changes this week is realistic, especially in a backline that’s already trying to resettle.

Would be great to see JMac hit contests as hard as LMac in his absence.

Be surprised if Turner escapes suspension.

Out: McDonald, Turner, Taylor
In: Durdin, Wood, LDU

If Higgo is ready he comes in for Ahern.

Also wouldn’t surprise if they left LDU out one more week and took a look at Hosie.

Why would it be a suspension?

Jeez, why does everything come down to absolute “black” and “white” around here all the time. All I was saying was that Goldy seems to perform better against stronger opponents. I never said he had clear victories over them. On reflection, I believe Goldy is a better ruckman than Tom Campbell. Shoot me.

I know it sounds bad, but in all honesty, I couldn't give a rats arse about the changes this week. Whatever.
Just bring some effort to make sure we don't embarrass ourselves.

Agree. All the discussion and angst has been around fringe players who are, most likely, in the team due to others being injured. This week is a great test for us. Away game. Against opposition who are flying. Cunners will not be tagged... and he’ll be chastened. Last roll of the dice, more or less. Shaw thinks he has the job. What’s not to look forward to?

Look, that loss on Saturday was very hard to take for me. Incredibly hard. I can only imagine what it did to the players. I am no sport psychologist, but would say it is very likely that we could get absolutely slaughtered this week. Major let down is likely IMO.
If Shaw can prevent that from happening, good on him.

What will we do about Zorko and Neil, their engine room, and Cameron ffs? Marley can have first crack at Cameron but it’s in the middle where we may have issues if we’re not on top in clearances. Send Jacobs to Lourdes asap! In lieu of that I presume Jed will take on one of Zorko and Neil. It’s going to be a challenge.

Could work the other way though

There would be a lot of players disappointed in their pressure last week. Mainly our midfield let us down. We could come out breathing fire and make a huge statement especially our captain

To be honest, I can’t see us coming out and dishing that out twice in a row. Have to back our boys!
