6 days until the next game, then 5 days to the one after.

Hamill > McPherson
Kelly > Hartigan
Jones > McAdam
Crocker > Stengle

Tex only 3 more games until 200

Smith back if fit.

Mackay one of the few who seemed interested in doing anything other than slowly twirling and then lobbing the ball down the line, he definitely stays. How old will he be when he plays his 300th?
Jordan Butts.

Collingwood generally play the one tall up forward (Reid, Cameron or Cox), together with mid-sized forwards such as WHE, Mihocek and Stephenson.

Add in a couple of smalls such as Elliott & Brown and we need to structure our defence differently. Just not sure this leaves a match up for McAsey??

Early forecast of rain also means it’s likely to be a ground level scrap and we can’t go in too tall.

Given this and at the risk of being hounded down here, I’m keeping Kelly/Jones in and going with:

In: McPherson, out McAsey
In: Smith, out Hamill
In: McAdam, out Crocker
In: Stengle, out Walker

I don't think we need another inside mid, we need to weed out the momentum killers and replace them with player who can kick.
Wilson can kick, but he's too slow to have an impact at AFL level in midfield.

Back the kids in, that's all I ask.

Doesn't matter if you think their games had issues selectors... show them you trust them to work on those issues week to week the same way you would have historically with our senior players.

Either way, I thought our inside mids performed fine last night and with Crouch and Sloane back in 2 weeks we don't need to be playing delistees.

I'm dropping Kelly and Fog with Macadam and McPherson coming in.

The reason I'm dropping Fog as the club appears rusted onto Walker playing, but you can't have both Walker and Fog doing nothing in the forward line.

Stengle in for Murphy
Jones for anyone really

Edit - Ok not Gibbs

They were good early, but once again couldn't sustain it. Matt went missing late on, it was really only Keays who kept fighting.

I'd persist with Laird in there for the time being.

It's gone passed the point of 'just give him time, he will work it out'. Jones HAS to get dropped this week.
He's shown no signs of any form of development for the entire season. All that playing him is doing is lowering his confidence, and taking up a spot in the team that could be filled by someone who actually can play football.
Have I completely given up on him? Not yet. But he needs an extended period playing scratch matches against people he might actually be able to compete against, because he clearly can't at AFL level. Re-evaluate in a month's time if he's been putting in good efforts on the track, or wait until he gets another Preseason into him to see if he can get his body to a level where he is physically capable of competing.

In: Smith, Worrell, Stengle, Poholke
Out: Hamill, Jones, Crocker/Murphy, Kelly

Brave new world when we adjust our defensive mix to match our opponent's set up. I do like those changes though. Would be happy and unsurprised to see Talia rested and Butts get a go or McAsey remain. But Hartigan almost certainly to return and he at least looks forward, so I'd prefer him over Kelly if it comes down to a choice between the 2.

Wilson should have been played 3 years ago. His time has passed unfortunately for him

Could he have ever played on a wing or half back? Seems strange to turn a player who's point of difference is a huge leg into an inside mid where you rarely get to use it. Although we did it with Wigg. I remember wanting him trialled on a wing those 3 weeks we played Kelly there. **** Pyke was a dick head. Jake Kelly the wingman, **** me.

I wonder if Keays can remember his last Lions preseason. That way we can save a few dollars and have him run ours.

We have a solid track record of finding the worst position for a player, and then playing them there exclusively.

In - Out
Worrell - Kelly crap disposal
McPherson - Hamill inj
Smith - Jones managed badly
Polholke Mrouch so unfit
Davis - Walker managed
Stengle - Murphy talent
McAdam - Crocker talent

B: Brown, Talia, Worrell
HB: Doedee, McAsey, McPherson
C: Seedsman, Keays, Smith
HF: Lynch, Himmelberg, Davis
F: Stengle, Fogarty, McAdam
R: O'Brien, Polhoke, Laird
I: Mackay, Schoenberg, Sholl, McHenry

I don't mind this team, we need to find more goal scorers.
Butts needs a game sooner than later.
Keep playing the youth.
