You don’t want to build a winning culture amongst the kids?

Worked really well for Carlton and Melbourne...

We can build a winning culture with games like the Melbourne and Geelong ones.

Another loss like the Collingwood game would be the best result.

Worrell out seems harsh, but this seems like a genuine best 22 (especially with Sholl back in)

If Mackay has a bad week, maybe he goes out, but he’s been in pretty good form compared to most of our ‘run and carry’ guys

Sure. I want them to go out and try to smash Carlton.

But really I'm happy with whatever result.

Maybe he knows the reaming we are about to get from men in the middle

It certainly feels like he's preparing supporters for the worst.

Doesn't seem confident at all.

It is kind of funny saying they are a good side when they sit 14th, below us on the ladder.

Then again they could easily win as we've shown a great ability in losing easily winnable games this season. Who knows which version of the young side will walk out. Perhaps the bye round has done us the world of good.

He's only in "good form" compared to the low bar the club sets for him. He's a 240 game player who rates as "below average" in disposals, metres gained, score involvement, contested possessions, pressure acts, etc.

Both Seedsman, Smith and even Sholl are outperforming him statistically but when their form dips, we notice as they are all vastly superior players with more expected of them.

Stats Pro has 39 individual stats that it benchmarks against the competition

David Mackay's season for a midfielder has been below average in 29 of those 39 stats

He is clearly not in the team for football ability and hasn't been for nearly a decade

The one quirk with stat pro is it includes the unused sub appearances when calculating a players average (instead of striking it from the record like footywire does), which certainly mess with those tiered rankings.

I mean his career average isn't much better.

Below average in 18 stats, average in a further 16 (out of 43 total).

But this isn't news to anyone. No one here actually thinks Mackay is an above average player

Agree, start the quarter sh*t to give Carlton a 5 goal lead (with them up after McKay and Cripps re-sign) then dominate the last 3 quarters but still lose the game with Walker kicking 2.8.

I'm no Mookay fan but how many games has he played as a midfielder this season.
