Thought Kelly offered virtually nothing, especially playing further up the ground.
He is swift ball movement poison.

Takes an absolute age to do nothing when he gets the ball. And possibly the most one-sided player we've ever had. That bit of play when he had it on the wing with Jenkins in the F50 one out with space to lead into - and Kelly chose to wheel around like the Queen Mary onto his left foot and eventually kick backwards - was the antithesis of how we played all night.

Fine as a lockdown defender but cannot and should not fill any other role.

Douglas for Kelly? A test of Knuckles Kerley's homespun wisdom that with ankles you either miss 3 weeks or 0 weeks.

You rate Hartiagan & Kelly's performance...
Not sure on Polholke to be honest, don't think he's on the level to be 'our future.' Happy to be proven wrong in time but at this point his decision making is so slow and he fumbles a lot in low pressure situations. Maybe with the rest of our side playing better he'll lift and look better?

I'm not saying he will be a guaranteed gun, but playing Kelly out of position on a wing isn't achieving anything & Gibson is not the future.

If Gov is fit, we can bring him in & rotate out inside mids as the 3rd wingman.

Fair points, I haven't seen enough from Gibson to suggest he deserves a spot as his ball use and decision making is pretty average. Is there anyone else we could give a run to get a look at? No one springing to mind but surely there's someone...

Kelly has lost his spot to Cheney. Huge worry they are now trying to create a wing position for him.

It's MacKayesque.
I think/hope it is a symptom of working with what we have available. Add to that they probably like is hardness and linked with Atkins being out were trying to increase that in the team.

Agree though, he's a shut down defender or nothing.

One play on the Western wing where he was running onto a loose ball, with 5m on his opponent, forward of centre and chose to approach the ball in an arc from our goal side so he could turn back and look for the 15m backwards pass highlighted this better than anything (3rd qtr I think). A genuine winger, especially one with pace chooses to approach from wing side and burst toward goal. kelly took a perfectly safe, solid defender decision and would have been great in the back half, not in a potentially attacking position

A conspiracy theorist would say we are keeping Kelly in the side so he performs so badly in the wing position that we just have to bring back Mackay to replace him

Keath is the perfect matchup for hipwood. Hartigan is shit.
Walkers hit wasnt even thst bad. Media hype makes it 1.
So out.. Walker, Hartigan.
In. Fog, Talia.
My thoughts exactly regarding Keath on Hipwood. I'd rest Talia for 1 more if he needs it, feet injuries are no joke. Its just so hard to rest properly as every step you naturally arch your foot.

Tbh I think he was referring to Poholke being the future, and after last weeks showing by him, can you blame him?
Poholke might get a game or 2 towards the end of the year, but at this stage i'd be inclined to let him get a block of games in the 2's now. The yoyo selection is ok for battle tested guys, but it can be really hard on younger players.

Plus he's had a good season this year, but still has lots to work on. Even if he doesn't play again this year I would say getting 9 games into him is a win and something he can really build from. At the start of the year I was predicting he would play maybe 1-3 games tops

Bring in Himmelberg , Jarman, Signorelli,ROB for a 5 game stint

Rest and Operate on Tex, Crouch,Talia, Jacobs

Gov needs another 2 weeks recovery then a qtr or half in the SANFL for a few weeks don't want to see him for another 5 weeks

Great win last night but would have been more beneficial to lose

Re Kelly, here are some other one sided players to consider

Marty McKinnon
Goody
Roo
Clarke
Hart
Mods
Weed....

You left out the most 1 sided player in our history! Although it didn’t stop him winning a b and f and 2 flags.

Did you not watch the game last night?

Winning is so much more enjoyable than losing.

We are every chance to win every game remaining this season and if we do so, we will go in with the best form of the 8 teams.

Winning form is good form.

Plus, losing the next 7 games will be a very long 7 weeks. Anyone who was disappointed we won last night, is not a fan of the club and is just a sour puss or a troll.

Considering ROB is out for the season, Himmelberg back just now from injury that whole paragraph is out the window.. Jarman for Tex or Crouch???? Why rest Crouch, he missed games anyway??

Thats prob the weirdest post on this topic..

Out Walker and Kelly

In Talia and either Wilson/Gibson.

I think Kelly's defensive role is not really needed and would rather bring in a mid.

Keath stays in and can play forward or back defendant on need. He was exposed last night as he is not a one on one defender but more a third/loose man. I reckon he could be a good forward target.....unless his shot on goal last night is indicative of his set shot kicking ability.

Fog has run out of steam and too slow for the quick pace footy we will need to play for the next six weeks. Play out the year in the SANFL IMO and have a big preseason.

Gov wont be ready.

Talia obvious.
