I’m still very angry at the second half last night. The second half was pathetic. 2 or 3 players should be safe, no one else.

Then my mind wonders back to the first half. That was top 4 level football. That is the level of football we know and trust the players, coaches and club expect and deserve.

The game should be broken up into two separate parts.

First half vs second half and then we head into a must win game for many different reasons. If we make wholesale changes, like we rightfully should and could and start to bring the kids in and we lose, we risk going from pick 2 down to pick 4 or 5 with Carlton catching a few teams below them. This doesn’t help any long term re build.

If we win, it becomes a replica of the Gold Coast game where everyone gets a free pass and long term change are never made. This is where someone like Justin Reid shouldn’t care and just trade away the players we need to build a premiership list.

This week means a huge amount to our club. A win is an absolute must to show there is still spirit in this playing group and also to help ensure carlton finish in 17th spot. After that i just want the kids to get a run of games with no sword of damocles hanging over their heads after 1 game. Stuff win / loss after the carlton game

I'm not convinced Stengle's defensive pressure is up to scratch

If Stengle played last night we would have likely missed out on that defensive pressure masterclass we witnessed

They don't help Murphy much. Want him to be a pressure forward, but then have him lead up the wings to be a connecting option as well cause Tex is cooked and can't move that much anymore. You can't have the smallest bloke on the field accomplish the second task, it just will not work. Either have to play Davis there, or let Tex sit with an "injury" and see if Fogarty can do it.

Murphy is our best key forward. Brings the ball to ground more than Jenkins/Tex/Lynch.

Not hard to hit 15m sideways passes.

At least he knows his limitations. 2017 his short kicks out of a contest to an outside runner helped to set up so many attacking runs. Unfortunately our game style is no longer to attack so these little kicks out of the contest aren't as effective anymore.

I would like to see multiple changes after last night's disaster but we all know that won't happen. I think we may make 2 changes.

Walker out for Fogarty (give Tex a few weeks off to get his elbow right). Fog needs to be in our main side plain and simple. Such a waste to have him in the SANFL.
Mackay out for Jones. If Mackay stays in again instead of a someone younger then we have lost the plot.

Neither of these changes will happen. Don will back his senior guys in and CEY and Gibbs will come in for Knight and another younger player
