Out:
Gollant - not the game for him but Tex to come back
Murphy - Insipid, 1 more disposal than Gollant when he was subbed out. 11 disposals, 4 from frees, 45% eff
Smith - Cooked
Borlase/Butts - Either or, Butts did look proppy though
Sholl - Can we end this experiment?
Jones - Sub

In:
Tex - naturally
Taylor - Has what murphy hasn't in spades, play him at hff or whatever the **** Murphys position is
Nank - Hasn't put a foot wrong since debuting, best 22
Keane - Is he fit?
Soligo - I mean, wtf? Immediately influenced the game. How much fitness could he have possibly lost when he was injured.
Dowling/Edwards - fast track these two

‘Bad early’ is putting it nicely, he was genuinely detrimental

Need the defensive/offensive balance that Keane would provide in a pairing with Butts
I'm watching the replay of the first half and he almost missed the ball handballing which cost us a turnover and the first goal

He's an sanfl player. The sooner we get Keane and Muzz back in the better. We ****ed up not trading in better backup kpd than Butts and Borlase in the trade period especially with Doedee leaving. If we had done that Borlase would be off our list.

Maybe they thought Curtin was that cover but he isn't a KPD imo.

Out Murphy, Burgess
In Soligo Tex

Gollant and Borlase second ruck.

Burgess is garbage
Burgess was surprising bad for someone as experienced as him... Couldn't click a mark... Didn't notice him lead up once ... We don't have a backup for tex sadly.

I would also keep gollant and drop Burgess. We were far too tall for the conditions. Murphy and sholl should be dropped. Sholl folds as soon as a player is within 10 metres. He ran alot but his disposal was extremely crap.

Out:
Smith (completely finished)
Gollant (only played because Tex was out, and he did nothing)
Jones (an utterly useless footballer who has run out of excuses)
Borlase (horrid first half when it mattered. Treacle slow. Can’t have him and Butts in the same defence IMO as neither offers anything offensively)
Murphy (even with Nicks trying to hide him in a back pocket he managed a couple of horrendous clangers)

In:
Nankervis
Tex
Keane
Curtin
(Soligo into 22)

Sub:
Sholl or Pedlar

I’m giving Burgess a chance in a dry game where it’s not just hack it off the ground type stuff. Him, Fog and even Gollant had 0 delivery tonight so I’m not giving up yet.

Zero chance of any more than two changes. Excuse will be these players have been hardened by round one, anyone that didn’t play is simply not game ready.

In: Tex, Keane
Out: Gollant, Butts (if injured)

The predictable retention of Smith, Sholl and Murphy is typical of the arrogance Nicks, Burns & co. demonstrate on a regular basis.

Arrogance / stupidity

Sholl, Berry, Borlase, Murphy, Smith, Burgess, Gollant ---- none of these are up to standard. Not sure we have anyone in the 2nds any better
How would we know. Nicks only gives an unproven player a chance if he is forced too. Nicks is a slow learner.

Bring in Soligo for Sholl, McHenry for Murphy, Tex for Gollant and Keane for Borlase. No knock on Borlase I just think Keane should have been in tonight.

Edit: Nank as Sub too
We have to piss this whole like for like mentality right off out of here for good. That applies to player type, structure and the ironed-on, uni-conditional gameplan founded on player type and structure(but not conditions)
In other words, for the love of the children, YOU CANNOT REPLACE MUVAPLUCKiNG MURPHY WITH EFFING McHENRY.
Laird has got to go, but he won't.

Yeah he isnt going anywhere anytime soon. Reckon the way we play him and the mix we surround him with could do with a tweak, but hes probably one of only two experienced players on our list that we arent ready to do without just yet. Cant play Berry and Laird in the same role though I admit.

Geez, hope tex is fit next week.

I’d play Strachan before gallant and/or burgess as second ruck. Let’s do it.

Out: Gollant, Burgess
In: Tex, Strachan

The problem is that Stratchan and ROB offer no versatility outside of rucking so they'd be a liability around the ground.
