If jones has a corked thigh , surely that’s not enough to miss a game !
We'd usually get the player to bandage up with a queen size mattress on their leg and soldier on however given D Mac is the likely inclusion I expect we'll play it safe with Jones this week

Seriously can we limit the covid talk to its own thread.
Really ******* annoying it spreads to almost every other spread.
It's getting worse than talking about religion or politics.
It's just so damn contagious! It spreads everywhere...

Think I mentioned it a few times that I thought Cook was highly unlikely to debut this year. Glad to be wrong here. That's all of our 2020 ND picks debuted in their first season. Think we did really well with our first 4 picks.
Loving our 2020 ND pick ups they are what we need much more of and we are set. Would love nothing more than seeing our next premiership side consist of Berry, Pedlar, Thilthorpe and Cook.

Pop quiz, hot shots:

Who was the last Crow to debut in a Showdown?

I don't know haha

Tom Gilligan?
I knew it was recent (2019-20ish) so I just looked there

If it was first AFL match it was McHenry
If it were club debut as well, throw in Keays and Crocker.

Apparently we've given 350 tickets to Port?

Unfair on our fans, they got all their fans in earlier this year (enough spare for last minute sales like I did the day before)
But we wont all be able to get in, so why lessen our availability to our fans even more?

Screw honour, be selfish and let more of our fans in.

How many did they give us previously? It was about the same wasn't it.

Yes
But last year there was never going to be a return match. So it was unique circumstances.

I know. I expect TT to be very, very good. I just have a feeling that Cook could be special.

It's a fun big call at least, though I doubt Cook has that ceiling in him.

I'd have him with a pretty similar ceiling to Pedlar. There is an AA player, potentially multiple in that profile, but they're raw.

This is a pretty extraordinary case of false equivalence.

The masks protect against transference of a virus. When cases of the virus don't exist, the masks are unnecessary.

I'm not going to join the freedom march wackadoos - but holding people in constant crisis is impractical. If you want people to trust you around snap lockdowns, you also need to let them be released back to normal life once the crisis has passed.

Yeah agree with this one 100 percent.

The point is that the virus can explode in a very short period of time, and the mask wearing can limit the spread while we are unaware that it is out there. It's risk mitigation for an unseen threat.

We've been lucky to contain it in SA so far (ie people actually getting tested and thus identifying where they have been). But all it takes is a couple of idiots and it could explode before we even know it. Hence the masks.

The lockdown was not that long ago. I don't think these measures still being in place is an overreach. Particularly for a high risk event.

So at what point are you going to say that restrictions in Australia need to start coming to an end?

Probably best to take this conversation to another thread or privately! But in short, my view is that the narrative changed from 'flatten the curve' to 'eliminate' for some reason. And now states have endured lockdowns to that end (in some cases difficult, extended lockdowns), and as a result the government can't just now decide to open up. Too many people will be livid.

The narrative needs to change to living with the virus. And that is difficult to sell given the approach that has been taken and the messages the public has been given. The change in narrative is going to take time and political spin. The vaccines are the beacon they have used. So I'd say when the vaccine levels are where they say they want them to be!

Happy to discuss views further privately if you'd like 😊 I'm open to all points of view

Shouldn't be having to wear masks in a state where there's no community cases and hasn't been for at least 3 weeks.
I agree

You have to reward people who’ve done the right thing
Another case - fine - bring out the masks again but this is just telling us to do something with no valid reason

And THAT’S when the masses will revolt
