G'day Crows fans,

Well i'm expecting a huge challenge in this match. Crows in a weird position in that they are well and truly underdogs for this and out of the 8, but if you win you will be strong favourites for the last 2 matches and that would almost guarantee finals. I think you will be absolutely primed for it.

Lions undefeated at the gabba this year so far - we have dropped at least one match every year so perhaps this is the one. Shorter break from Perth. Weirdly half the team flew back on the red-eye, the rest the next day. It looks like Coleman and McInerney will be back for some fresh legs. We don't have too many excuses as likely only Ashcroft missing from best 22.

Sounds like Rankine might play? Makes sense to take a bit of a gamble. Starcevich was good on him UNTIL the last game where he really hurt us, and starce is struggling a bit at the moment, so he would be a big inclusion. Keane looked pretty good in your backline. You don't really need any real gorillas as none of our key forwards play like that, who do you expect to get Daniher? i am trying to remember who got cameron last time, but from memory they did well

We were in pretty horrid form until about half way through the third quarter. Freo played well and we actually did well to turn things around from 17 points down. Perhaps it's a turning point. Or just a blip from our standard late season dip!

Anyway i think this could be a very good game. Expecting crows to have a fast start. Hoping we can keep in touch early.

Your side is far too good to not be playing finals which has me very worried about this match. I'm expecting Payne to get Walker, Andrews on RTH, Lester on Fogarty. One thing to note from last time, we had no Payne, with Gardiner playing and struggling a bit. Payne has seemed a tad proppy since his ankle but if he can contain Walker (and by that i mean 2-3 goals because that would be a big win), then it allows Andrews on RTH to zone off a bit and help out generally.

Anyway i won't bore you with any more of our tactics i just like to pop in and hear from other boards!
Oh bloody great.

Coleman back? Last Crows v Lions he had some kind of leather magnet strapped to him every time we kicked the ball.

Well that, and he's a gun.
😡

Changes for me:

OUT:
Jones
Rachele

IN:
Pedlar
Rankine

Team:

MM (Charlie) Keane (Hipwood) Borlase
Milera Worrell (Daniher) Hinge
Smith Crouch Soligo
McAdam Walker Keays
Pedlar Fog Rankine

1R: ROB Dawson Laird
INT: Murphy Schoenberg Nankervis Thilthorpe

If rankine comes in, I'm leaving rachele in all day as one of them will act as a foil for the other. I don't see the point dropping rachele after two weeks out with suspension and his first game back.

Ask yourself if you were a Brisbane coach the sight of rachele going out of the team would be a good thing.

Drop Murphy, make him sub. Sloane to SANFL. Can't just keep giving his sub and expect fitness to remain the same, even if he runs laps after the game.

My bet is they drop Nankervis. Teams almost always have a designated defensive forward.

Will Thilthorpe's injury keep him out?

Yup, that's Keays though in our lineup, seeing he's tended to match up on the opposition half back flanker. Murphy is more Adelaide is in a position where it can use a forward slot to fix holes elsewhere in our build.

Considering we're back in form, and we just lost an outside player in Jones, it's probably McAdam and Jones out for Rankine and Pedlar, and we may look at getting Schoenberg further up the ground.

Job for Keays?

If the selectors drop McAdam just as he is finding form again after an interrupted season... they are deadset idiots!

Mcadam?..

what the hell would we drop Mcadam for?.

if mcadam was dropped before murphy or keays.. the club should immediately hand its license back..

There should be daily bans for stupid suggestions like dropping McAdam.

Bizzare call.

McAdams reentry into our forward line has made it so much more dangerous. He's such a smart forward and gets to all the right places and kicks goals.

He's a threat that I'm the air and on the lead that has to be respected.

He causes mismatches that makes the work of the other forwards easier.
It was a really odd one last week - McAdam was dangerous and nailed was it 3 goals and provided a presence, but on the flipside, mac andrew who was his man for a good portion was everywhere and setting up plenty of play for them and chopping out forward entries of ours

I thought Andrew was really good - but his man still punished him on the scoreboard

I thought Andrew was playing more of a loose role. I could be wrong though.

I think Nankervis will survive due to the Jones injury. He probably would have been the one to go out otherwise, but with Jones a forced out I reckon Nankervis will hold his spot.
Agreed, otherwise we need to throw Smith back & we are then replacing 2 wingmen.

Andrew had him for height and was able to mark consistently, however McAdam still played well.

It didn't help that we gave Andrew the Aliir/Tom Stewart treatment and kept bombing on top of him to intercept mark.

Sadly (for us) kiddy out for another week

Keays might be the latest to hassle Neale into submission
Keays couldnt hassle his way out of a wet paper bag..

he’s not a taggers arseh*le.. no matter how many times some round here like to claim he is..

what keays does do very effectively is run off his opponent and do everything he can to make them pay the other way.. and his gut running makes it difficult for them to keep up with him.

he’s never blanketed an opponent out of a game resulting in them getting fxxk all touches and having no impact.

The fact they had to put someone with Andrews height and athletic ability on McAdam is exactly why he is pivotal to our forward line.

In recent weeks young Harry Schoenberg has been effectively playing that close checking, negating role for us in the middle while also getting a bit of the ball himself. The high accumulating Matt Crouch has come in to complement another high accumulator in Laird who is regaining form after some injury issues. They are getting the ball out to the likes of Dawson (who can also win his own ball), now wing-man Smith, rebounding half backs Milera and your surprise gift package to us, the, for many of us unexpected, emerging star in Hinge, amongst others. This reconfiguration of our midfield is largely, I believe, behind our taking another, much needed, step up in terms of performance over the past few weeks. So while Cowboy Neale and the likes of Laird and Crouch and even Keays may go head to head at times, I would not be surprised to see Harry Schoenberg standing Neale for fairly good chunks of time and negating some of his effectiveness.
