This is getting tired. They're both part of our on-ball division, rotating forward. If we're bringing in another forward, Venables goes before Sheed.
What are you talking about?
Sheed played the whole game through the middle, Venables doesn't rotate through the middle.
For team balance Kennedy or another tall coming in for Venables is fair enough, but Sheed isn't the solution in the middle. The guy has no pace and always stops and wheels back around, disrupts forward momentum alot.

Gutsy effort not to many passengers, losing Darling hurt.

Out: Hutchings
In: M.Allen

Hutchings can't pick the ball up cleanly and his kicking is awful. Playing Allen would give us an extra genuine marking target up forward and a bigger body in the midfield. Sheed was excellent today and Venables was decent could of easily got paid a couple extra free kicks.

Sounds like that number 7? What does he offer?

So if we bring in another forward, there's no dropping Sheed.

Incorrect

Have to admit Sheed wasn't too bad today, doesn't deserve to be dropped.
Got plenty of the ball today and did one or two nice things, the rest of the time he's a liability.
5 contested possessions and 1 clearance means he's being played on the outside (or he's doing a terrible impersonation of an inside mid) and he's far too slow to play that role. He's a liability defensively, he makes terrible decisions with the ball in hand, judging by the way he tackles he must rub baby oil on his hands between quarters and he's a shocking kick most of the time. He gets a pass from most this season because he's kicked the odd flukey (and I must admit timely) goal here and there.
Sorry but imo he doesn't cut it as an AFL midfielder.

I think the problem is no midfield depth, so we're stuck with Sheed, Hutchings, Masten etc

I’d be happy if they gave games to ainsworth partington and ran venables and ah Chee through the middle more instead of masten and hutchings , no point playing finals if u not contributing

Le Cras, Ah Chee, Ryan and Venables aren’t offering enough up the ground. We need our smaller forwards to help out the mids.

Le Cras is getting by on reputation

Ah chee spent most of the game trying to play defence

Of course he wasn’t going to offer anything up the ground

Ah Chee must be kept if West Coast continue to play small. He provides cover if a tall goes down early like today.

LeCras makes sure that blade of grass just inside the centre square doesn't get stepped on so he is needed. Without him protecting that patch and telling everyone else to man up there is no telling where the team would be on the ladder.

Past the time to protect the former list managers reputation. Venables has to go. He doesn't provide anywhere near enough pressure like Rioli and Cripps. His disposal is over rated as shown by his first kick which saw a turnover goal (and was registered as effective funnily enough).

It makes sense structurally. I dont know what Simmo thinks Venners is offering right now.

If JK is still iffy then leave him at home.

Touch everything made of wood but the Lions, whilst improved, are still in the Bottom 4. We should not drop this game, especially on today's (albeit crappy in comparison) performance. We were missing our two primary forward targets and we still kicked more than Brisbane's average score this year.

What changes would you go with? Ah Chee instead of LeCras maybe, and then Kennedy for Venables? Schofield supposed to be fit again by now too.

What do we do with Vardy when Kennedy comes back? Presumably Ah Chee goes out which makes us very lumbering.

I wish we would try Ah Chee as a ruck and go with just Lycett.

Maybe we will have to wait til next year to try the one ruck policy

Would be handy if we had a mobile KPF who could pinch hit ruck instead of Vardy who is C grade at both

bring back lynchy

For me if we needed to bring in a extra tall or JK comes in (although unlikely), the order of players I'd drop for them are Ah Chee > Hutchings > Venables.
Ah Chee wasn't as effective as he was last week. Hutchings was pretty terrible with his disposal at crucial times, but kicked 2 important goals even though we still lost the game.
Doesn't really matter if we think DV isn't up to it yet, the fact is the club really loves him and wants to pump games into him. He really hasn't been too bad despite not getting many touches, and that would be enough reason for them to keep playing him.
