Was more referring to the “marking targets” part of your post. Yeo is 190cm but plays a far different game to Waterman who is all of 1cm taller. Torrential Queensland rain doesn’t normally lend itself to a “marking targets” game plan.
I noticed Lycett pulled up a bit ginger / hobbled after a contest in Q1 and spent some time on the bench..
Wonder if he wasnt right after that.
Still made a few important tackles though.

Last year sure. I'd be right there wih you. This season Masten is going to poll high in the B+F. He is consistently essential.
McInerney is like 204cm or something but he basically plays KPF all game
Think Sheed needs to hit a bit of consistency and most of the critics will stop. It happened to Masto this year and once you become a bit of a whipping boy, its a bit hard to shake that tag.
I love DV but i think its time for him to make way for JK or JW.
oh I'm no great Lycett advocate....if the Saints want to overpay and let us get a Band 2 compo pick I say we let them and run.
They both sucked, Gawn took them to the cleaners. Point is we can't continue to play them both, it doesn't work. Almost completely ineffectual as fwds, may clunk a very occasional mark and the rest of the time get run off by their opponents. Play one as solo ruck, Lycett at least shown he can compete at times with the best (Grundy), Vardy simply isn't a ruck man. There's a reason almost no other side plays two rucks anymore...it only worked for us because of Nic.

I actually thought Vardy was doing better in the ruck than Lycett, especially in the third. Lycett was jumping way too early all game. His timing was terrible.

Ryan has has a good few weeks yes was quiet today, Sheed is getting better, people expecting him to be as good as Gaff are kidding themselves. We do miss Gaff.

Masten has been very good the past few weeks he was good today, 27 touches ran hard all day kicked a clutch goal, not much more he could have done
THIS!!! It was one of the most infuriating things of the game. Gawn's a beat and Lycett just handed it to him on a platter with comically early leaps.
If they were marking contests they would have been free kicks for unrealistic attempts.

Sinclair got 13 hit outs against Gawn last week. 13. Even Vardy got more than that. He’s good around the ground but much like Nankervis he’s an awful tap ruckman.
The Lycett hate going on is well over the top, got beaten by the best ruck in the league who’s a good 5cm taller than him. There are probably 3 ruckmen in the league who can properly compete with him tap wise and one is out with an acl injury.

It is getting too late to blood first or second gamers and expect them to impact especially in finals.
If Darling and JK are out then Waterman comes in. We should have playwd M Allen much earlier.
Am not happy with Ryans output or intent shown when the heat was on.
Venables output also isnt good enough but I feel / hope that is due to that extended injury lay off.
People dropping Ah chee dont have much idea. He was swung back when Gov moved forward and kicked a goal. Did ok considering.
Moving Gov forward for large periods is a mistake. Then Hurn needs to play tall and we lose his intercept marking and rebound.

Our forward line pressure has been average these past 2 weeks. The ball is being allowed to come out of our forward line far too easily which is catching our defence off gaurd and allowing for easy marks over the back on the counter attack. Our game style has to revolve around pressure, which will force the opposition to bomb it long into their attack - allowing McGovern or Barrass to intercept. LeCras has to be held accountable, I just don't see him chasing / pressuring much at all anymore. Thank god Allen is coming along nicely, will be an upgrade.
Go unchanged, give JK another week off.
