Out; Rubbish game of chip, chip, chip........oh turn over.....opposition goal.
In; Run, FFS.
I know we're not a quick side but we've still got some pace..eg. Smith, Milera, Seed, even MacKay. Why aren't we using it?????
I walked out of the game last night during the 3rd quarter when MacKay was running with serious speed and then hand balled to a stationary player. WTF was that???
Don has to wake up and smell the flowers.
DON. THIS GAME PLAN IS NOT WORKING AND NEVER WILL. CHANGE IT IMMEDIATELY.

Facts are he’s had a worse year under us than he did at Sturt. That says it all. Our development currently sucks. Whose our forward line development coach? Reilly? What role did Kaesler have?

I'll bet you he doesn't play 50 AFL games.
Lets discuss that bet after next seasons Pre-Season ......I want to at least offer you a chance to retract .....even Davey Crockett, Col Custer, were offered surrender terms B4 their demise

Our players don't work hard enough to get back to the forward line. So when you end up with Mackay, who decides to take the game on, he runs, hits the half forward line and sees a group of black and white guernseys in our forward 50 and not a single Crow.

Happened one either time where it was Eddie vs about 6 magpies player. Everyone else was dragging ass because we didn't expect to move the ball that quickly. And that goes back to Pyke's gameplan being so slow we allow defense's to get numbers back and set up every time. We go slow, sideways, we move the ball, but players don't actually move, it's like we want to set up and kick through zones without actually having to run to find the free holes. Then we try and switch it, but we're soooooooo slow at that that by the time we get it around the free side gets covered every time, thanks to guys like Kelly being involved who can't take the quick first option. So it ends up with a lazy bomb down the line where he usually can't take a mark and the ball gets out easily because we let the defensive side of any contest sit wide open every time.

Our team isn't slow because we lack leg speed, it's slow because we lack work rate

Yesterday's game was an absolute example of why we're last for distance covered and distance covered at top speed. Only a few of the young guys like Jones and Murphy want to do the really hard work.

I was on the eastern side with a full view of the game and saw this happen many times. Lol.
Pyke is so kidding himself with this BS strategy.
With this season now done and dusted they seriously need to recruit and develop players with leg speed to get back to some sort of semblance of what we were doing in 2017. At this stage though I have absolutely no faith that we will do that.

That goes back to what Scorpus said though. This is largely the same team from 2017 who didn't look all that slow. They would run all day, move the ball quickly and run some more. Now they all look indecisive, tentative and lazy. So your mind either goes to the players have largely quit, in which case they can GTFO, the gameplan has gotten so mixed up and convoluted the players don't know what the heck they're supposed to be doing anymore or our fitness staff have absolutely ballsed up another pre-season and we're not fit enough to run out games anymore. Or its a combo of them all.

Leg speed is useless unless you've got the will to use it and use it after you've already ran 12kms for a game and want to blow chunks. Not many of our guys have that will at this point.

I'm going with the latter.

Exactly. I watched closely how stagnant our players were as a defender was trying to find an option to kick to. So many who were still & offering nothing.

This week we should banish the players who have repeatedly have had poor GPS numbers as that's a reflection of their workrate.

That means being accountable at selection which will never happen.

To make it worse, our running numbers are inflated by absolute spuds who can only run and do nothing else, like Atkins, Mackay and Knight. It's partly why those guys get picked

Until we have accountability at selection our club culture will continue to be mediocre.

One bad trade and now EVERYONE SUCKS!!!!!

Also it was Noble who traded in Gore. The incompetent David Noble who is now in charge of the probably minor premier. Same David Noble you wanted sacked.

Hard to take you seriously when you say Don isn't the problem and have the power stance in your avatar. Run along.

We look slow and low work rate because our gameplan is inefficient.

1) Oppo will put an extra in our forward line. We kick it down there, they chop off the mark. Then its 4 on 3. They work it to the loose easily and low risk because they have the extra number. Our forwards chase but this chews up a lot of tank. They may switch one side and then switch back, even multiple times, 4 on 3 keepings off is a tough game when your in the team with 3!

2) Anyway, they work it down their end (our backline). We have 3 on 3. Our backliners have to stay close as and get up from any fall over quick as they can, no room for error for us, lets say we win it, then our backs still have to run like mofos to get separation since each has an opponent.

Lets say we get it back up our forward line, go back to 1) above.

3) Later in the game all this running has tired our players out. Being more fatigued more mistakes creep in. Eventually a turn over happens trying to execute a precision chipping game under high fatigue. We look like numpties missing an easy kick, again we have 3 on 3, if that, we may be out of position cos we were running forward and they get a run-in-boot-it-out of the ground team lifting goal and we loose a bit of confidence.

4)Lets say we go to a center bounce, it bobbles around for a bit in the center, repeat stoppage, by this time oppo have got an extra back and 6/6/6 rule has no effect. We get it up forward but the extras for them turn it into a scrap and we struggle to get space and time and are often forced wide and or have shots under mega pressure and so we miss often and we lose a bit more confidence. We are also tired from struggling to try and create from a jam packed forward line, often we cop a tonne of knocks trying to create something in and under while in such congestion, now we are sore and tired and with not much to show for it. Conversely oppo is fresh and buzzing from their team lifting goals and sensing our lack of energy.

5)Eventually our players lose heart with the gameplan and arent committed to it anymore. Ones like sloaney and tex, given their roles, try to fly the flag but I almost wish they wouldnt, it gives heart to the coaches that their gameplan might be something other than utter garbage.

We don't change this plan. It must be obvious that there is a problem. They must feel that it is too hard to come up with an extra numbers back gameplan until they can train to it in the preseason. That's the only thing I can think of.

Look how much better it looks:
Brown Talia Laird
Smith Keath Milera
Seed Brouch Sloane
Galluci Walker Stengle
Betts Fogarty Himmelberg
ROB Greenwood Jones
Mrouch Kelly Poholke Scholl
Where's Douggy?

I'd have Lynch in my team. He's one of the few to lead

It’s little things too. Saw some vision today - Elliot marks in left forward pocket on angle, Matt Crouch is just nearby in space to Elliot’s right. Matt just turns his back on the play and walks away, this allows Elliot space to run into and bend the ball for an easy goal.

Lazy, dumb - whatever you want to call it
