“The difficulty in selection is making an assessment on what really is a one-off performance - with the form of Round One some 12 weeks prior having little relevance."

Words of Adam Kelly.

It's not a one-off mate. It's the same shit year after year.

We have just told Smith, Laird, Lynch, Seedsman, Atkins and others via selection that their performances were good enough.

:$
Yes and no. We weren't the only team that played atrociously after the 80-90 day break. GC seem to be up and about, give them another week and see how we go.

3 games, 3 new draftees not taking Crocker and Keays into account.

We’re going to back the boys in, seeing as this worked so well in 2018 and 2019.

The difference is we bought in a player playing his first game rather than one of our 200+ game players.

I'll give Nicks the benefit of the doubt in this instance. If we lose and lose badly, he will pull the changes.

The problem is we back the boys in, they respond, but only for a short period of time. Then performances erode and eventually we have another blip with the very same players playing like absolute sh*t.

Rinse and repeat. Lessons never learned. Team stays its mediocre best
Yes
I thought about this before I made my post
We are about to do 2 consecutive games
If that lot
Crouches x2
Seedsman
Tex
Lynch
Atkins

Are out

As much as I'm happy to see Hamill get a run, no unforced changes after an insipid, effortless performance is still very disappointing. The only positive is that we're flooding a new player instead of reverting back to those not part of the future such as Gibbs and Mackay.

I think overall it is fair
We still don’t know the true fate of Kelly and Sloane further tests
For once I’m trusting this club to drop some seniors who don’t yet again perform this weekend
Far out trust is a big word when we're talking crows considering the track record.

Oh they’ll pull together a competitive performance. It’s been this group’s MO for quite some time.

They've got a reprieve, and know they only need to put in one solid effort against a shit team to bank enough credits for months

Crows fans 2020: At least two absolute washed up spuds aren't getting a game any more.

Wow we are a brave club, one change.
Some in this group have continuously shown they are not up to it with their aggression or poor disposal skills.
We have to begin the process of change and weeding out the regular non performers.
Competition for positions must count for something, don't talk accountability and then not follow through.

I don’t recall the coaching career of either of those guys. Was there meant to be a point in that sentence?
Both premiership coaches were close to being sacked before they won a flag.

We can hardly judge Nicks on 2 games. We need to give him a fair go, keeping in mind rebuilding is a priority.

And yet, we need many more.

Just because we were absolutely garbage in this facet last season, does not mean a better failure gets a pass.

It's not the second game consecutively. The slate does not reset because of a new season/new coach.

Its the same failures that dropped tools last year. Ones who know the threat of performance is just a pipe dream.

Only a fool gives this group second chances now.
Maybe if there was a semblance of a game plan on show maybe but the one thing that's standing out to me unless I'm missing something big time is there isn't a coherent playing strategy for the players to adopt, either that or they don't understand it if there is. Currently I'd take a man on strategy over whatever the coach is trying to achieve because it sure as hell isn't working.

Surely freeing the players up to play an attacking style game has to be better than this defensive shit where all our players are trailing their opponents to the ball, sometimes attack is the best form of defence, at least it puts the opposing defence under pressure.

Rebuilding with a game style that is at least recognisable and that the players get might be a good start.

Agree.

But takes more than 2 interrupted games to change a game plan.

But it we go most of the season like Botlon did with Carlton & I had nfi ehat their game plan was, I'll agree that we have a problem.
