He had 5 dispels. Did he actually have 30 in the sanfl? Because he played mostly as a forward. It seems he still lacks the fitness to play full midfield minutes.
The first mistake was picking him when he needed mid time to build on, but once in the team they may as well give him exposure to the level with handful centre bounces instead yo-young him in and out of the team.

I don’t understand what his development strategy is.

He needn't play full minutes. Just expand our bloody rotations to more than 5 players per game and run him through 2-3 times per quarter. Same with McHenry, Same with Rochelle, Same with Jones etc etc.
Dynamism.

Our midfield rotation policy is as stagnant as our Fwd structure and has been for just as long. This is a major concern in regards to what Nicks + his Coaching staff have potential to offer going forward. Whos our Midfield Coach again?

Don't mind Murphy. And he's only just turned 23.
Don't mind Murray out for Frampton (would have been okay with McAsey too).

Himmelberg should have gone, replaced up forward by Thilthorpe or Murray.
Pedlar should have taken Sloane's spot. Hard to believe Laird is ready, but I guess he'd know (I hope). Dropping Pedlar is ****ing awful.

Should be last chance saloon (for the moment) for ROB too. Strachan could have come in this week.

I would have only minor reservations if a peak-form and fitness Murphy replaced the currently unfit Pedlar for a Showdown, but Murphy has been injured and has shown nothing to justify a recall as far as I know. He was awful/missing two weeks ago and I'm not sure he was mentioned in dispatches last week?

Two legitimate questions;
1. What did Murphy do last week in his only game since surgery, was he outstanding?

2. Why do we think we are so clever at changing players positions- Murphy recruited as a back pocket we play him forward pocket, Pedlar recruited as an onballer play him forward then drop him, MCasey well who knows, Frampton same, Murray plays forward boom AFC KPD, we tried
Fog in multiple spots, the list goes on does it reflect on our recruiting, is it not up to scratch how can we recruit so many players and then feel the need to play them in a postion they weren't playing when they caught our eye??
