Yeah. He's clearly a stop gap. Need to reboot the whole club off field, get some qualified people in and start over.

I assume we are saving coaching staff money this year not concerned about effectively tanking for better picks as we have assembled the weakest coaching group in the AFL.

Are we still building his fitness? He’s a first round pick who showed glimpses last year before being dropped after a game he was concussed in.

At this rate we’re throwing him away for nothing and I can’t help but feel there’s an AFL player there somewhere.

Would have preferred Lynch and Walker out. Hartigan to CHB. McAsey up forward with Fog and Himmelberg off the bench. Play Mcadam and Davis along with McHenry or Stengle when available and give Gallucci one last shot.

I still don't think our administration have accepted rebuilding means losing games and there's tons of internal (and external) pressure on Nicks to "just get a win" and he's backing in some out of form seniors to try and take the heat off (the same mistake Pyke made in the 2nd half of last year). Unfortunately it just ends up in a shooting yourself in the foot situation where you have people prioritising this week over the next 24 months. I imagine that pressure is huge on Nicks knowing he's at a club that turfs coaches after 2 years and he's in a situation where it's such a huge task just about any coach would have troubles getting the squad into the finals by 2021.

I am reminded somewhat of those 2010-2011 Richmond teams when Hardwick first started where their list was so threadbare they were playing guys like Ben Nason, Angus Graham, Matt Dea, Dean Polo, Brad Miller and the like. We don't have the depth to do what Richmond did and drop 4 blokes knowing their replacements will get the job done coming in. So they're betting on a turn around, rather than playing a guy who isn't good enough like Richmond did (of which we now have more than a few of most likely due to poor development/list management over the last 2 years).

Those early years weren't great for Richmond, but they began to turn their form around on-field and further off-field improvements took them all the way. If Roo/Chapman/Fagan are holding Nicks back because they want a win to keep the heat off them then we're back here in 2-3 years time with a new rookie coach and loading up for another trip on the same roller coaster that Sando and Pyke ultimately took us on. A brief high followed by continued lows.

Ditching Nicks after two years of bottom finishes would be the height of stupidity

Whilst agree playing for the future ,they still have to perform ,so I am bemused posters want to drop Walker and M Crouch but want to leave in Murphy (played one of worst games seen by a Crows player last week) Keays with so many fumbles non possessions etc and McHenry with 6 possessions in 2 weeks.
Yes make changes to mids to win some clearances and re construct forward line and move the ball quickly and direct and Tex might have better chance but at least by him being there means Fog. McAdam don't get best defender. Matt along with all mids and wings are the ones apart from Sloane are the ones not blocking and placing pressure on opposition mids etc.

Do you just want to drop all senior players? How much youth does he need to bring in each week? How much more inexperienced do we need to go? Senior players are gradually getting dropped, but it’s not something that can be done in one week. Hartigan, Gibbs and Mackay aren’t playing. McHenry is named on the ball, Hamill is named on the wing, this is a new era and I’m excited to watch them develop, but they need some senior players to help.

Dropping Tex (as I think will happen) is a massive call on a legend and former captain of the club. It may look easy on paper, but it sure as hell wouldn’t be easy in reality to make this decision.

The Crouch’s are not that old, he is clearly hoping at least one of them can pick their form up as it will help the development of our younger players immensely. Matt is clearly on the thinnest ice out of the two. Laird will be on thin ice too and may see himself out soon for a Sholl/McPherson if nothing changes.
