Surely its reasonable to give nicks a year before having melts. Give the bloke a chance excute a long term plan. He's already done more for the young blokes than previous coaches.

Its unrealistic to have wholesale changes all in one week. It will take time to transition the best 22, then we can fairly judge him on that.

Personally I'm not overly confident that he has what it takes, but having Fog, Fischer, mcadam, ned, hamill, Jones, himmelberg etc getting regular solid blocks of games is what everyone's been asking for.
Agree in part. He’s selected young kids sure. But thus far our midfield set ups have largely been from the Pyke school of continuity. There’s not much point selecting Jones if your not going to play him in the guts. Did you notice where Rowell started?

I agree he has to balance his side with experience, but he’s not getting a yelp from them and needs to shake them up. Personally I’d pick Matt and Brad, then humiliate them by playing them in a back pocket or half forward. Let them know they’re dispensable and next stop is out of the side. Start the midfield hand over.

It’s only year 1 and it’s a tough gig no doubt, but he’s had a few missteps already IMHO

Did you miss the spray Godden gave him earlier in the year?

Gallucci was told, in no uncertain terms, to pull his ****ing finger out and stop coasting. The selection committee won't even consider his name until they see a massive improvement in his application.

Yes, I saw it.

So we either wasted a first round pick on a guy who doesn’t mentally want it or have physically capability to play AFL footy.

Or we don’t have the ability to develop players as our recruiters thought we did.

In Gallucci's case it's Option A.

I agree he has to balance his side with experience.

Why? This year is a total free hit for Nicks, whats the point in trying to get games into the senior players at the point.

He should be putting a team together for the future and this year is the perfect time to do it. Personally, I could care less if we lost every single game - as long as we have some plan moving forward.

Of those on the bench, I hope they pick Polhoke, Himmelberg (or ok with Frampton), McAdam.. & Gibbs I guess as Mrouch needs dropping along with Walker & forget Hartigan unless Talia is injured.

It would help to buy in if you could discern any semblance of a gameplan.

All I've heard is contest contest contest and yet we are literally the worst at contest. And effort is at historic lows.

The players clearly a) don't believe in him, or b) don't fear him.
C) Don't care.

Nicks thinks he can get 'em to, but he's gonna find out that's not the case eventually.

You don't necessarily need to "fear" a coach. If Nicks isn't "that guy" then players will see through it if he tries to start acting like it, like they did with Sando.

The key is to be genuine and consistent with how you are as a coach and the messaging you give, that's how you get players to believe in you.

How I would like them to line up...

B: Doedee, Talia, Kelly
HB: Hamill, McAsey, Laird
C: Smith, Brouch, Jones
HF: Lynch, Fogarty, Crocker
F: McAdam, Himmelberg, Sloane
R: O'Brien, Polholke, Gibbs
I: Brown, Keays, McHenry, Murphy
E: Walker, Mrouch, Hartigan, Frampton

How's the brisbane odds looking.
$2.15 +40 points victors on Ladbrokes.

-32.5 line for the lions $2.
Brisbane $1.90 -32.5 the line . Thats printing money.
Lions +60 Winning margin is $4.25
Lions line betting of -76.5 $10 or -72.5 $8 or -68.5 $6.75

Last week, I came to you and said, I am the light and I know the way, and urged you to bet on the Gold Coast winning, like this:

1593079805403.png

And I took my account from $22.19 to $38.79 like a boss.

Looking at this week's betting:

I think Brisbane are going to win still. But there's not enough value in the bet. I don't know how much they'll win by, except to say we can't kick goals, and they can. What about those stupid exotic bets they make available now to entice problem gamblers to stick around?

1593081289574.png

Can Brisbane win by 60+? Sure.

1593081359413.png

Add 3c for every point. So what to do?

I'm gonna take $5 on Brisbane by 60+ with a SuperBoost @ $5.25, then take $10 on Brisbane by 30.5 @ $1.75. That should do nicely.

I would be happy with those changes. Then give Poholke a good run in the guts

Took the Dogs 1-39 against Swans at 2.50. Match already over but starting to worry the Dogs may win 40plus and may have to cash out. Swans lowest score at half time at scg since 1983, 9 points. Crows like.

And you can judge Nicks in any of these areas after 3 bloody rounds? I’m not sure why any these guys take up these gigs when you have supporters questioning them after 3 weeks into a rebuild.

That's basically a).

i.e. believe in him

Effort isn't counted in rounds

You don't need 12 rounds to see it isn't there

The effort is at Mark Neeld Melbourne levels.

I'd love to see Poholke play for 3 to 4 weeks

Must be given a decent go & on ball... Not as a forward.

Mrouch has been shit all year, so only fair he is give a fair chance.

It is, though, considering how early it is in Nicks tenure, it seems it's more he is a victim of circumstance then a general issue on his end.

It'll be interesting to see if he can clay his way out of it because he is well and truly coaching a broken group of individuals masquerading as a team.

Further to that I would say a bit of both a) belief and b) fear isn't a bad mix.

Fear for your position if you slack off never hurt anyone.

I don't mean fear as in Nicksy lubing up his bald head and rubbing it on your belly.

I'm loking at the teamsw now:

1593082317680.png

I see Jarryd Lyons, Charlie Cameron and CEY waiting to murder us. They would love nothing more than to grind us into dust, and I for one welcome that.

Why is Hamill on a wing? First game success story, let's use him to fix problems already? Just because we've lost our entire outside brigade?

We should line up like this:

FB: Kelly - Talia - Murphy
HB: Doedee - Hartigan - Hamill
C: Smith - Poholke - Sloane
HF: Keays - McAsey - Jones
FF: Crocker - Fogarty - Frampton/Himmelberg
1R: ROB - McHenry - B Crouch
INT M Crouch - McAdam - Brown - Laird

- Can Murphy play defense?
- We let Hamill settle into a role
- we see Poholke in the guts and we tell him you've got 6 weeks, just enjoy yourself and work hard
- we try McAsey in a role he's more suited for
- we have Jones rotating in to the middle
- we have a 3rd tall ruck guy in F/H taking up a pocket
- we put McHenry in with his ferocity and see what happens
- we leave Brouch in to help direct traffic for the kids
- we debut McAdam (wow he's 25 years old, he better be worth it)

My only change would be Frampton in for Himmleberg but otherwise
Not too fussed between these 2, as long as 1 comes in for Tex. Whichever is deemed to be in better form.

Was leaning to Himmelberg as gives us flexibility to to play him back or forward with McAsey... but Fog also gives us that option if need to change things up during a game.

Tex has been going for all attempted marks 1 handed trying to outbody his opponent because he isn't mobile enough to gain separation & liability when the ball hits the ground.

Most importantly means we have a better 2nd ruck as neither Tex or Fog are an option.

Yeah. He's clearly a stop gap. Need to reboot the whole club off field, get some qualified people in and start over.

I'm willing to give him a go, I just want to see the right signs.

Underperforming players, regardless of their name, being dropped, not just "on notice" week after week.
Young players being played in the positions they were recruited for, and given a decent run at it.
Encouraging us to take the game on, and letting players use their skillset, rather than trying to turn them into crowbots.
