Hartigans not slow???... you must be watching a different Hartigan to me!..

He might be able to run quicker than some... but his decision making (the important part) is glacial like.. and, when the little symbol playing monkey in his head finally makes a decision, it is normally the wrong one... and the opposition has had an eternity to set up down field..
I think it's you that must be watching another player actually, one of Kyle's most redeeming traits is his speed for a big unit.

Poholke is fast ffs

how many times do people need to hear this before it sinks in?

0.01 second slower for 20m sprint than jones, who everyone loves for his speed
Is he a line breaking, run and carry elite ball user?

Because that's what we need to replace Milera. Not just a quick straight line player

Yeah, we get a lot of those sorts of comments. I have provided the link to the following thread a number of times and do it again now. I just wish more would read it. For example we continually hear about our slow backs, but Keath and Hartigan are both quick, as is Smith, Laird and Gibbs as well as Kelly are not slow either. Kelly, regardless of what we may think of him (I was much happier with his game last week) provides plenty of run, one of the reasons he accumulates a lot of possessions. He may be quick across the ground, but he’s slow of mind. Really doesn’t have AFL smarts at all and so looks slow.

Be more than happy to see him succeed, have nothing against him, just don’t see him as an AFL player

Like i said in my comment... Its his decision making thats slow.. not necessarily his foot speed.. and foot speed is pointless if it takes an eternity to make a decision..

First he had to be fast, so we covered that.

Now he has to be a line breaking run and carry elite ball user. Imagine I showed that too, what you going to say next, he needs to be a former All Australian, Brownlow and norm smith medallist?

We just need a team that will win the game. How we play as a team will go much further than this one selection. He is in form. Milera is injured. If we had another Milera he'd be in the team already and Poholke would still be coming in.

Season over for match committee is likely round 22 even if we had 8 wins on the board. I hope for better but generally know the same shit will prevail under this group of coaches.
Hey we get it, you have a very real dislike for the coaching staff as we've heard ******* numerous, numerous times. How about a bit of variety occasionally?

Had to be Jones in for Milera unless still suffering from concussion. Next time we will likely see him in the team will likely be 2020. Was good to see him for 3 games. So we will likely have no other draft picks running around this year from our best draft hand in 20 years. Something not right there.

I get that Poholke had a great half, but jesus, that's a shocking call.

Speedy outside mid for a mid paced inside midfielder, knowing full well pace has become even more important with the centre clearance set up. It's like our selectors want us to lose.

If you wanted Poholke in, something else had to budge.
“Like for like” and shuffling only relate to keeping out of form seniors in the side. I’m not up in arms because I’ve largely thought it to be a bullshit philosophy. A player in form is a better option than a lesser player that brings only a perceived physical characteristic. It’s why Dmac’s selection has largely been stupidity over the last few years. That said, I’ve been on the Gooch train from the get-go and he should be in the 22 now that he’s acquired the required fitness base.

He never had to be just fast. He is replacing one of the most dynamic, line breaking, elite players in our side. That's what a player like Gallucci or Jones would bring.

If the criteria was merely being quick we'd play Kyle Hartigan on the wing

We look SLOW.

And why drop Poholke for one week to bring him back the next week!

Sloane, Crouches, Greenwood, Poholke, CEY, Knight is a sloooow midfield and combined with Hartigan, Talia, Keath and Kelly in defense.

Our run and carry players are Atkins, Knight, Mackay plus Smith and Gibbs.

Jesus
I don't rate Poholke, but he's clearly been the stand-out player in the last 2 SANFL games he's played. After getting dropped last week he went back and absolutely smashed it again. So if the selectors aren't going to pick him now, they're never going to pick him.

Greenwood is our only current mid who can also spend time up forward. He has value and can contribute as a genuine forward.

CEY, Sloane, M Crouch, B Crouch, Gibbs, Atkins, Seedsman, Mackay all offer nothing when they're up there. Add Knight to that. I suspect Poholke too though he is young so too early to judge.
Sloane is quite useful forward, but the others yes

I would have agreed 100% with you up until this season but in my opinion watching Dylan this year in the SANFL he has made a complete metamorphosis in all facets of his game especially in his decision making under pressure and his willingness to take the game on.

For me I think it's been a confidence thing with Myles and he's just starting too believe in himself and that he belongs.....now we just need to see if he can transition that new found confidence into the AFL.

Hartigan is in absolutely horrid form and we’re taking three tall slow defenders in, including him, against a team packed with small, fast forwards..

Yeah, that’ll work.

Are the fukwits selecting this team really this stupid?... do they actually watch the same games we do?..

Maybe they are like the mother of a grubby lowlife criminal who still thinks, against all the evidence, their dear little boy is a saint who hasn’t done anything but good..
Even if an opposition played no key forwards, we’d still pick the same defensive unit. We don’t adjust for the opposition, we’re not close to being that advanced tactically.

Speed over 20m when standing in a line waiting for a gun to go off doesn’t always relate to speed around a footy contest. I like the kid and have no problem with his selection, but the constant reference to 20m times that aren’t related to footy speed are sheer stupidity.

Not sure about Poholke for Milera.

Rewarding SANFL form I guess and they dont want to alter the midfield rotations. Which was a big reason we won last week.

Thought it could be a chance to see Stengle debut. Different role, but push Eddie up the ground more and Stengle play SF.

I think people have just resorted to generic complaints so they have something to post.

I don't know in what parrallel universe Poholke is like for like with Milera. Could not possibly have picked a player more opposite to Milera. My theory is that they heard supporters complaining that he was only given 1 week then dropped. Then he somewhat embarrasses their decision by performing in a lower league which is no comparison to afl whatsoever. Therefore they then bring him back after only 7 days earlier making a call he is not afl quality. What has changed in 7 days? Why have they dropped him at every opportunity that he has been given? Now they are not even backing in their judgements on players. They are lost.
