Look I was very disappointed in what we did with top 3 picks we had and wondered why in the hell we recruited 2 very very small players but enlighten by many on here that we were injecting speed and pressure into our side which I understood but still not excited about what we did but as our main mids are not breakaway speed merchantsI understand the logic.
But What have we done in last 3 weeks brought in CEY( very very slow in all ways and no defensive pressure)
Poholke--- certainly no speedster or have any elite skills or real pressure ability.
Greenwood -- Love this guy but certainly no Usain .
So the reason get better is if you establish what your weakness is and you recruit in however possible to fix and you run with your choices ,
Geelong , Power and Richmond are been rewarded for backing their choices .
Same as in defence we are being shown up with a under talented unbalanced defence structure yet again plod on.
These big mids with breakaway speed you talk of that were available to us with our picks? And what exactly do you class as "big"? Riley Collier-Dawkins is the only one that fits the bill size wise that has reasonably good acceleration but the knock was he doesn't find enough pill. Only other possibilities but hardly "big" were Xavier O'Halloran 186cm 84kg, Tom Berry 185cm 78kg both of whom have express pace and agility and Xavier Duursma 186cm 74kg who has reasonable acceleration and agility but would have been classed more as Half Back/Outside mid?
Plenty of "small" mids that go OK : Lachie Neale, Andrew Gaff, Zach Merrett, Dion Prestia, Adam Treloar, Dylan Shiel, Zac Fisher etc etc.
For the record I would have taken Jye Caldwell 184cm 80kg who has reasonable acceleration only.
