Agreed. Rooke won't come out people.

Why not? Explain yourself...

What tangible qualities is he bringing to the team?

This great toughness Rooke has is beginning to sound similar to the Tenace pace myth I've had to deal with from many of you for the past 3 years..

I doubt Rooke will be dropped. He is in the leadership group which shows how highly rated he is by the Geelong coaching staff. There is no doubt in my he is a quality player in a best 22 but at the moment he isn't working hard enough.

I would have thought Sim Dog means that the match committee won't drop him...which I agree with. They would almost certainly consider him part of the best hypothetical 22 (ie everyone fully fit), and if the issue is largely fitness then IMO they'd probably take the view that the best way for him to regain it is to play at the highest intensity possible.

No changes.

If Ling is injured, bring in the anchor man, David Johnson.

:thumbsu: agree totally with your comments.... rooke aint match fit but he will be better off gettin it in the seniors than vfl. he is definately in our best 22. sum of you ppl rightin him off sound like the same ppl callin for lings head a couple of years ago or like dermy sayin robert harvey is gone when he keeps backin up wit 25plus cameos!!!

Too right Teddy. :thumbsu:

Yep. He's in our leadership group so obviously his peers believe he brings plenty. I'm not going to argue that right now his form does not warrant selection. But we will just have to cop it. He is rusty as all hell and still gaining match fitness. That will only change with match time in the seniors.

It was the same when he was sort of thrown back in the team despite being badly underdone last year after his treatment in Europe. He was ordinary as hell but we persisted and he worked his way through it.

You know, all this discussion just got me thinking - Geelong is in a great position when we are talking about dropping Rooke or Prismall, just shows the depth the Cats have available. :thumbsu:

Even though I'm not sold on Rooke's efforts in the 1s this year I can understand people wanting to keep him in (and I do think a fully fit Rooke is in Geelong's best 22).

However, if Rooke's primary role in the side is as a tagger can anyone honestly say that, AT THE MOMENT, he could go with a Goodes or Dal Santo or Harvey or anyone else you care to throw up?

If Ling was out injured can we really expect Rooke to run with Bell or Palmer or Headland if they are considered the major threats?

If there is an expectation that Ottens and Egan will come back through the VFL then there is no reason Rooke can't go back and go hell for leather down there and build up some match fitness IMO.

Still, as others have said on here previously, the match committee knows better than me so if they feel Rooke is right - I ain't going to disagree with them.

Rooke will probably play this week but if he is down again I suspect he'll become a bit of a topic next week (regardless of him being in the leadership group or not - heck, Harley is the Captain and he did time in the VFL last year when coming back).

I reckon you should give Ablett, Bartel, Mooney, Johnson, Corey, Chapman, Hawkins, Blake, Stokes, Enright, Ling, Selwood, Scarlett and Hunt a spell. :)

That flight over can be rather taxing and you don't want to be suffering later in the year. It'd be terrible to have the chances of back to back premierships ruined by an deep vein thrombosis epidemic or a consignment of dodgy mixed nuts.

Planes can also be very de-hydrating, the bags could go missing and Perth Airport is a regional sh*thole of an airport that needs a major upgrade.

Western Australia also has some quite dangerous wildlife. Best you blokes stay home. :thumbsu:

Help.

Unfortunately with Kelly, Rooke, Prismall & Wojcinski in the middle you'd still lose the clearances.

It all depends on who Bomber wants to play on Pavlich. If he opts for Milburn to play CHB (like he did in the Prelim, GF and Round 1), then Taylor stays out and the only change will be Ling for Gamble.

Otherwise if they opt for Taylor, its Ling for Taylor, and maybe Gamble for Prismall.

Don't be surprised if Mooney isn't rested this week so he can play his 150th in Geelong the following week and Scott Simpson will play! Just something I have heard going round!

I knew there was a reason that I agreed with the 6 man interchange bench.
