Yeah doubt it’ll happen, but it’s what I’d like

I’m a fan of having the option to put Lobb forward to create a different problem for the defence.
I would like Buss come in so it can help my cash gen in fantasy.

All I know for sure Is that Doc needs a spell ASAP. Can't make a correct decision in crunch time to save his life.

In: Treloar
Out: Duryea

Just had an 8 week spell from senior footy including a few weeks rest altogether. Either he's best 22 or not at this point, and i'm thinking probably not unfortunately.

Bring back Liam Jones!!!

In my view, this game is a real test of how well the football club is run.

The North game last year came straight after the bye and we really struggled to run it out. Similar story with the Hawks elimination final we didn’t play anywhere near our potential, which also came after a bye. Tomorrow’s game against the Hawks is a test of what we’ve learnt and whether we’ve made the right changes based on those lessons.

If Gardner does come in over Liam Jones, what is the thinking there? Purely rewarding good VFL form? Jones struggled early this year after coming back from the hammy sure, but he is just a much better defender at AFL level than Gardner IMO.

Reward VFL form he’s been exceptional for a month down there,

If it frees up Lobb or JOD to go forward he isn’t going to be as exposed in our new defensive set up

I'd prefer Buss over both of them on current form. My only thinking is that maybe Gardner plays second ruck allowing Lobb to stay back and Khamis and Naughton to spend more time together up forward.

Isn't the mid-season bye a result of AFL's bargaining with the AFLPA? i.e. that players get a week off from most of the club routine, including at least one, maybe two training sessions? If so, the club's hands may be tied. It might have learned a fair bit about the bye but be unable to translate that into beneficial change.

Dropping him are they? I look forward to watch their captain run around against Frankston then. First time since 2015 in the VFL.
Either he's injured or he's been dropped.

You don't "disguise" that someone is rested. Thats usually the euphamism that means they have something wrong with them that means their output isnt up to scratch, but they can still physically play

Yeah fair I guess, it's just Buss has had good VFL form for a while too and Jones good at VFL level.

The way I see it, Buss is a decent option now who did nothing wrong when he got a chance earlier in the year, and the best option for the future.

Jones probably the best option now but doesn't have long left at AFL level.

Gardner is in-between both where he's not a selection for the future and not the best option at AFL level right now (Good VFL form but Jones is still a better defender IMO).

Not annoyed or anything and he's earned a shot, but I feel like we have gone down this path before and it isn't going to be leading to much. Would like us to settle our back setup now in the 2nd half of the year.

People justifying Gardner's supposed inclusion. I want you all to stand up post game Thursday night. This is an inexcusable inclusion.

If this is true, bevos got his 2 year deal so he's back to old bevo.

He’s been the best defender in the VFL over the last five weeks.

I’d written him off as someone who’d never play again, but having watched a few VFL games recently he’s been seriously impressive and clearly the best of our tall defenders...

If he comes in I want him to back himself in instead always looking for the spoil.

I’m not suggesting that Gardiner in is the right choice but I can understand it from a flexibility viewpoint.

In preseason he spent a fair bit of time as a 2nd ruck/forward.

I’d imagine his additional flexibility got him over the line.
