Why? We give him a run in the middle most games and he never does anything.

Time there has been negligible so it's a very small sample size.

I'd really like to see Linc get more time there actually. He's a good user of the ball and seems to have real upper body strength. Might be a good combo with Lachie too since they are from all reports best mates.

Me too. I assume Linc doesn’t have the tank given he’s had so many injuries. I think he had 1 disposal in the second half against Essendon after 11 in the first.

I'm going no change. Fagans msg should be we can accept we had an off day now go out and redeem yourselves and if you don't start learning the way to the NEAFL grounds.

I'd like to see Answerth debut, not sure for whom. We clearly lacked on small backs with pace, if Answerth is a possible answer then time to get some games into him. DeGoey, Stephenson, Elliott would be a good mix to see what he's got.

It looks like Hipwood is pushed in the backside while in mid air by the Essendon player , which makes him tilt slightly more forward.
Pretty clear in the footage .
Edit : sorry bit late to the party with this one, already been said by others.
Its already getting a lot of air play in the media down here (was discussed on both footy programs this morning) and now this from Robbo, which is akin to the media serving it up to Christian / MRO on a silver platter:

DISLIKES

4. STUDS UP IS NOT WORTH THE PAPER IT’S WRITTEN ON

The “Toby Greene’’ rule was brought to stop players raising their boots in marking contests. But that is exactly what happened when Eric Hipwood flayed his boot in the face of Essendon’s David Myers, who was front and square to the marking contest. Myers left the field with blood streaming from his face and you could clearly see a stop mark between his eyes. It could have been much worse. Inconsistency of adjudication is a major problem, be it studs up or prohibitive contact. No wonder fans are confused. Commentator Mark Riccuito didn’t like the Hipwood manoeuvre. ‘’It was an abnormal action from Hipwood,’’ he said. Talk about inconsistency, Gold Coast’s Wil Powell was concussed in a dangerous tackle and his match was over, yet no free kick was paid.

I think Hipwood would be unlucky to go for it, but I also won't be surprised if he does given how much it has been discussed in the AFL media since the incident.

Never does anything... slight exaggeration. He is explosive and Gabba is a massive ground, let him have a run in the mids if he drifts out of it in the foreword line. Already happened a little on the weekend.

Playing small forward can be a flaky thing . You are to a big extent, dependent on what happens further up the field and whether the opportunities come your way.

If what you say is correct though, it's a bit of a weird stat since we got hammered in the first half but arguably, got the better of it in the second. I didn't realise that his second half was so devoid of possessions. He might have looked a whole lot better if but for that weird "over the shoulder" call when for all intents and purposes, it looked like he just out marked his Bombers opponent cold. Goal gone begging:(

OUT: Hodgey (managed), Nick Robbo, Gardiner
IN Keaysy and 2 others.

Rayner has to get in the play. If not getting it up forward stick him in the middle or on the wing or even the HBF
Rest Neale, Zorks etc up forward to keep Pies worried and accountable.
Play 2 rucks and **** lay in to Grundy

Wouldn't mind seeing big O play a bit more in the ruck this week. Grundy absolutely dominated the ruck last week and had a huge influence on the game with his hitouts to advantage. Big O will do better in the ruck contests than Stef will, which will help negate the influence of Grundy.

IIRC he was about 15-20 in our best and fairest so he was definitely not one our best last year.
I watched him closely in the reserves to try to work out what the coaches are seeing that us supporters are not. To me it might be about getting his own ball. He like to play outside and dances around the ruck waving his arms calling for the ball but I don't see him go in and get it much. That maybe ok, you need his skills to clear it long when it does come out and he is a booming kick but I just got the feeling they might be looking for him to hit the contest a bit harder. I thinks a fine line but sometimes you have to get your own hands dirty and there we certainly other players appearing to go harder. Answorth looked really good, he got in a few mussels and that was only the first Qtr and little B merry was tossing them around as well. If neither of those 2 have some buzzer report for rough play I think they would be an option IF there are changes. But for me, Keays has deserved his go first.

I am pretty sure im on record here having said Dayne would miss the Gabba clash, now the rumblings start. He won't play.

Gardiner is coming off a rushed return from a decent injury layoff, limited preseason and is refinding his confidence in his shoulder, which always takes a while. On top of that he has been far from appalling... Calls to drop him are laughable.

Being serious, it may trigger bad memories for him and if he's not 100% then he shouldn't come. Especially seeing the spot where his father used to sit, his misguided words at the B&F etc.

Beams would get booed if he played. If he doesn’t want to go through that or just generally face the club after what has happened to him throughout his time then fair enough. I still think he handled leaving poorly but I don’t wish him to actually go through any mental pain coming up here.

He being out with an illness may be true but like last year against Port it may also be a lie to cover up his very personal issues. I don’t have a problem with that, I hope he is well.

All that is fine and I agree, that's why I felt he might not play. Pies would be annoyed behind closed doors though, if it eventuates.

Rotate Cameron higher up the field and free him up. He'll play better. Put Rayner one out as our deepest forward. Like De Goey and Martin, I doubt Rayner will ever have the defensive run to become a midfielder for long period of time. What is wrong with the deep, dynamic power footballer who loves kicking goals. That is what Rayner is now and will be in the future. Just play him there.

I'd give Rayner one more week and see if he can pull it together in a big game. On form and effort he should be dropped, but I think against the Pies we will need a player like him to really stand up. I can't see a replacement doing that for us.

Keays probably has to come in based on NEAFL form but I doubt he will offer anything at senior level. I'd like to see Answerth debut either this week or next week and see what he has got.

Beams played against the Pies when he came to us and it didn’t bother him, I think he’s just genuinely crook.

What’s the best ways to get to the footy on a Thursday? Usually park at King George square parking and catch the busses as it’s $5 parking.. but only on weekends! How’s everyone else getting in?
